I doubt it.

I am sure he has been tested, well if I was to suspect anyone he would be one of the top candidates and im sure the doping commision feels the same way thus im sure they tested him.

Devill...guys get tested all the time. I know quite a few(not necessarily rugby) who get tested rather regularly without getting caught. Some do of course test positive but there are ways around it:)

I seriously doubt that he would take the roids route. Compare shots of him for the last 7 years and you will see that he did not gain 30kg in 2 months but he steadily built up to what he is today.

Neither do guys on roids Devill. Sometimes the majority of the gain may be strength wise instead of bulk mass as the majority of people seem to believe. There are more advantages to roids than just "hulking up" lol.

I’ll throw some stats your way to underline the majesty of the beast who has just declined a meal and a Coke, preferring mineral water instead. ‘I’ll eat later,’ he says. ‘What? A baby rhino?’ I wonder. Spies power cleans 135kg. He dead lifts 240kg. He bench presses 165kg. Only mildly impressed? Wait, here are some more. He is able to do pull-ups with a 50kg weight between his legs. He can launch his 108kg body 1.4m onto a raised platform, sprints for 835m before slowing on a repeated sprint-ability test and has a body-fat percentage of 6.5.

‘Pierre has been blessed with amazing genes and has maximised those,’ Bulls conditioning coach Basil Carzis says. ‘As humans we don’t really know what our full physical potential is. We think we’re pushing the limits but the reality is that we’re not even close most of the time. Pierre refuses to die wondering.

I know of no drug that makes you be able to do that while making you look like an armoured rhino... But you guys seem to know more about the roids than me :)

Everything inside me wants to believe that Spies is different. I want to believe that true athletic phenoms, ones with no intruders in their bloodstream, still walk the earth. He speaks candidly about the rumours which have dogged him throughout his senior career and, rightly or wrongly, I’m sold.

‘What can I do about those rumours? Nothing,’ he says with a resigned tone. ‘I can’t shape what people think. But those people who make those sorts of allegations aren’t there with me in the gym when everyone else has gone home. They don’t see what I eat, the lengths I go to to look after my body. They’re not there when my mates are going partying and I turn down the invite because I know it will affect the way I train. They’re not there. They don’t see what sacrifices I make.’

True, doubt the rumours will ever go away. But like I said for good reason...

Maybe ask his wife if he is a bit under developed down under :p

Most pro bodybuilders also have amazing genes then, their muscle responding so well to training and protein shakes

Yes thats why pro body builds sometimes can't have stairs in their houses, but they can run the 100m in sub 11 secs  I mean its only natural for pro body builders to turn pro athlete....

Must say the conditioning coach of the boks saying spies is the most commited guy in training also probably is a lie :p

As for the speed factor I know his father set the SA under 21 hurdles record, so that is in his genes,

Haha, we will never know now, will we? Anyway, all just rumours until proven. I'd think for a guy who power cleans and bench presses anything more than 140, a deadlift of 240kg is not that impressive.

Lol, yeah but then again he is not into being Zeus' kid he is training to be a better rugby player not a pro weight lifter.

True, I was not trying to talk him down, what he is doing is rather impressive anyway!

Not saying he is on them...but if he was I wouldn't be surprised. And yes he is strong but for a 111kg guy... Ive done all of those weights at 88kg bodyweight and I was still a bit stubby :D Well all except for the 50kg pullups. I normally go a little lighter but go far heavier on dips :D

So my point here is I still expect more from him. He can be more of a beast!

Lol, he is not a god:p In the one interview he says that people expect him to make 50 line breaks , 150 tackles and score 6 tries a game else he is under performing :D

Yes and frankie fredricks/michael johnson also benched 165kgs and DLed 240kgs......

Its the combo that makes him unique, not the individual feats.

And how do you know they weren't able to do even more...? Their sport revolves around maximum activation of white muscle fibres when they sprint which in all likelihood would make them even stronger:) I would think that they could quite easily DL 240. The benching...well that would be up to the individual athlete but I definitely wouldn't put it past them. They are power athletes after all.

Ok...for me his speed is amazing at that size! The rest...well for someone who is an athlete and this is all he does is well...not all that impressive tbh.
Exactly why I think he is clean. If he was juiced up he would be anywhere from 7-20% stronger. At his body weight of 111kg a 165kg bench press is reasonable without being sensational. It also doesn't specify if he is doing 1 rep at that weight or 15, also makes a big difference. Those figures are slightly out of context.

Your back can only benefit from deadlifts. Start light and do reps but place the weight on the ground after every lift and concentrate on your form while lifting. I also have back problems and the only way that they have become less severe is by doing deadlifts :)
Fair emuff that and stomach exercises...

yes, potentailly we may all be able to mimic/achieve what PS does to a degree, but can we 'turn it on' when it counts? No, and that is what makes him vastly superior to what most, if not awl of us have to offer. Genetic talent/ability, yes, wihout a doubt, but the dedication etc, to put in those long/dificult hours. Glad, he is on our team!

Lol...seeing where you live we probably go to the same gym :D If you want I can show you some good technique for deadlifts sometime:)

As for reps on the weight...I agree but I bet they would of mentioned if it was for 15 reps just because it would sound so much more amazing... ;) So I reckon its a 1 rep max.
