Hi there. me and my boyfriend use to play valorant and get ~135ms to bahrain but it seems that when we stopped playing something happened since we now get 180ms to bahrain valorant servers, just hoping there is a solution since it's pretty unplayable with this ping.
we live in port elizabeth using CI as our isp. Some people told us to use chubsvpn or something but i don't really trust random vpns

Just made this account to post here since they have a support person on this forum

It's normal. You need to ask for local servers.

Heya so the Bahrain servers are run by Amazon and they pickup our traffic locally and carry it via their network now being in PE you probably going PE -> CT and then Amazon carrys it to Bahrain via their network from CT. The cable that they use to get the low latency to Bahrain has been very problematic for a couple months now so they have been running on an alternative path. So i am Cool Ideas CT and as you can see below on hop 9/10 the traffic goes from CI to Amazon and they carry it to Middle East getting me ~180ms.

If you want a better solution you going to need a direct route not using Amazon, you can checkout Exitlag i know when i tested they had a direct route its about $5 or %6 per month but you can have a 3 day trial for free no credit card needed. If you choose to go that method check on Twitch they sponsor some guys i know ShivFPS is one i used his promo code to get i think 20% off

try download this https://1.1.1.1/ it is a VPN by Cloudflare it is free it is giving me from Cape Town 140ms to Bahrain

I am also from PE and ping to bahrain has been pretty bad for the past few months. I get 180ms to bahrain too using coolideas. You can use warp to get ~160-170ms to bahrain or you can buy a subscription to a service like exitlag or wtfast to get a ping much lower. I currently use wtfast to get a stable 148ms to bahrain

thanks for all the suggestions. with warp i get 170ms to bahrain instead of the 180ms. tried out exitlag and im now getting 154ms ping
our neighbours use websquad and still get ~130ms-140ms to bahrain without the need of services like this, do the networks use like different routes?

I'd see if your ISP can maybe help you get your routes closer, @websquadza Boss man what you doing over there to get that latency nice and low?

What does our VPN do?

Ironically we were the only ISP to policy route AWS when they were using Eastern paths.
Your VPN routes to UK so would be like 280 probably.

Looks like you guys are peering different with AWS since everyone else seems to be getting the standard pings to Middle East I noticed it for about a week now but don't use the servers so didn't query it. It was routing correctly prior to that cable being broken

Something also changed on the VPN a while back and causes NAT issues it looks like where you can't ready up for some games and join peoples lobbies

Pretty unlikely, our peering hasn't changed but will run some tests. Will also check the VPN thing and see.

hey, are you guys able to improve my line to get better ping to bahrain like other isp's are? dont know how this stuff works but a guy said you guys could get closer routes

We advertise to AWS as normal, can you PM me your IP? And what is the latency at the moment?

Bahrain has shifted up to 200ms now from 180 and Warp is still pulling 140's.

We are investigating the bloaded latency for some CT customers, will report back.
