Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!

We definitely have different ideas as to what constitutes good pizza... those look pretty average at best

So,

- looks quite picturesque
- thin crispy base with no hint of sogginess
- toppings all the way to the edge
- no stinginess with cheese or other toppings
- awesome flavour combinations because I customised the toppings
- delivered fresh and hot

And that's an average at best pizza? Kindly share the pizzas you like to order, express from Mount Olympus I assume.

They don't look bad at all TBH. Depends how they taste obviously but I wouldn't be disappointed with the looks of those at least.

They tasted amazing. :p

Too many toppings... a great pizza is something simple with the best quality ingredients which is something Debonairs can never do

And as I said previously take away pizza can never be great ...

This and this..... and any pizza that is not wood fired can only be called average. You simply cannot compare the taste.

The thread is about take away pizza not a pizza joint with woodfired thin base almost no toppings pizza that leaves you more hungry afterward.
Surely you can get wood fired takeaway where you stay. I stay in a small town and can get quality wood fired pizza from at least three pizza takeaway places here. And it's much much tastier than any of the mainstream fast food pizza chains for the same price or cheaper.

That's just personal preference. You can assemble a pizza however you like, including making the toppings sparse. I like a pizza with lots of complementary toppings.

That's bs. I have a pizza oven at home. It's fun to use, but it's hardly night and day.

Looks like it was something assembled by someone on a minimum wage.

And you think the kitchen staff in more upmarket establishments are being paid much better?

No this thread is about pizza ... period.

Take away pizza has its place but it’s never great

Yes it’s a personal preference but I enjoy really good food rather than mass made stuff if I’m going to call something great...

And yes a wood fired pizza done professionally is night and day without a question

It's not night and day - it's also just personal preference. As I've said, I've been many times to the best artisan/rustic wood fired pizza restaurants in PE. And I have a pizza oven and always take the time to buy proper ingredients when using it. They're nice, but Debonairs is my favourite guilty pleasure option of the bunch.

Each to his own I suppose. But for me there is a big difference between the two options taste wise. The smoky wood fired taste is what pizza is all about. For me anyway. Enjoy your Debonairs.

For the life of me I can't understand how people's taste buds are so dead that horrendous dough from debonairs and Romans
Can be passed off as pizza. Debonairs toppings all taste plasticky no matter what order you pile them on - the sauces are heavily sweet or salty and can't mask the unnatural taste
And Romans -well I m tempted to roll up the next thick crust pan pizza I see and take it home to use it as a loofa

Casa Bella at Montecasino...loved that pizza base!

Yes it’s night and day. You clearly haved never had a good pizza if you don’t think so

I still think you guys haven't had Domino's at a decent branch. The small pizzas are the best. I like thick base pizza, when the base is soft and fluffy like a pillow, and it's best achieved with their small pizzas. The quality also depends on the person making it. I've had better pizza from employee X than Y from the same branch. Better than Debonair's k*k and cheaper too!

Two of the pizzas I ordered from Debonairs tonight:

The pizzas were all great, as usual.

You are just as

Does Debonairs only taste proper on Wednesdays?

Missed this post before. Pizza day used to be on Fridays but somehow it shifted to Wednesdays, maybe to provide takeaways further away from the weekend as we always do something nice as a family for lunch on Saturdays.

The issue isn't the day but the branch obviously. As I've mentioned in this thread, I have ordered from other Debonairs branches and had really terrible food from them. So I have to concede that if most people here who are complaining about Debonairs have only had experiences of that calibre then I can't blame them for their opinion. I guess I'm lucky to have a good local branch.

No one should ever order Debonairs' sauces. They are indeed crap. But most of their pizzas don't have one of their special sauces and you can remove them anyway when customising. I have no issue with the quality of their other ingredients other than the polony ham which I just avoid too. And to be fair, most pizza places use the same nasty ham.

I usually buy the Monday deal but this will do me good for days other than Mondays.
