Plasma problem (ps50c430) - jumping pink pixels

Well the la46c750 is beautiful looking and silent :) but I will update the main thread about picture and etc later

Just a quick question the local samsung site doesn't have an update to the firmware but the us site does. Can I download the us site one and update or will that cause region problems?

Just a question > why do people want to update firmware versions? Is there really that much of a benefit? Do they list the improvements? Remember, Samsung units are constructed in South Africa, and will most probably have SA specific firmware. It's perhaps safest to ask Samsung if firmware can be upgraded from outside countries. If anything goes wrong in your firmware update, then you're not covered anymore.

Why would you openly admit to doing a firmware flash if it botches up? Most of the time you can get it replaced without them checking that, especially if it's got a high return ratio.

You wouldn't have to admit it, they will check the version date of the firmware and see it's been changed.

You are giving the guys a lot more credit then they deserve, most of the time if firmware buggers up the TV is bricked and they don't even check how. Or they can't as they can't even get the necessary info off.

Thats right!!
even if you do what i did and call them on a daily basis, it still takes ages!!

Mine is still with the repairers (Advanced Electronics) and I haven't heard from them or Samsung in a week. Tried calling them yesterday but no one answered. Welcome to Samsung hell!

Hey guys, finally got around to going to new world in menlyn. Showed them the problem and they gave me a new one, even after the 7 day gaurentee! :)

Didn't expect it and was pleasantly surprised. Was making myself ready to wait ages for my tv and tons of agony with the samsung after-service, luckily that wasn't needed.

Fired it up today and no problems yet, but I'll wait a week or two before popping the champagne ;)

Agree but the retailer can not be expected to swap out or refund you are this was purchased BC (Before CPA).

No but the retail can be expected to take it in & send it to the supplier who will then have to repair it at their cost or replace it.

As a side note: about 2 years ago I had a chat to a supplier regarding dead pixels. there is a small number (varies from screen to screen & supplier/brand) but it should not be as many as the impression I an being left with in regards to what the OP said. This means there is a good chance of getting your problem sorted.

I have had my Sammy for almost two years now. No issues yet and it also plays large ( > 4GB) mkv files. Still havent experienced much better PQ.

Just upgraded to the latest firmware as well. Can see this being the last release as it is getting older now.

Nice, which model is that?

6 Series 50" Full HD. I think it was the Ps50B650. No Buzz, No Break In - Absolutely love it. I dont use any other media players as the one on the tv handles almost anything I throw at it. except flv's doh! But the PQ is superb. It has a really nice picture engine which helps I guess.

Wrong, READ THE FINE PRINT and always confirm the conditions of Warranty and Guarantee. The cost of transporting the goods back to the factory is traditionally for the consumers account. Wonderful hey! This is why CPA rocks.

Better retailers have always carried the burden instead of screwing over the consumer. As mentioned many times on this forum, I use to be in retail.

CPA is way overdue if only for this reason.
