Knew it was too good to be true, the screen has loads of jumping(sparkling) pink pixels, especially at the top of the screen and on light coloured backgrounds.

I've only had it for 10 days, bought on 26 march, new world states on the receipt that they only have a 7 day return policy.

What to do?

*edit* had it once after a few days, but it was like 10 pixels, ran the scrolling wash for a few minutes and it was gone. Two days ago it returned, only this time there were hundreds of pixels and you cant get rid of them. Tried different source feeds etc., so i'm certain it is the panel itself.

Jumping pink pixels huh? :D Somehow I find that funny.

I would take it back. The return policy should only apply to returning it without a reason. This is a warranty issue.

Agree but the retailer can not be expected to swap out or refund you are this was purchased BC (Before CPA).

I'll try and post a picture tonight and post it. I'll be taking the tv in tonight or tomorrow. How can they not swop it out? it's totally screwed 10 days after purchasing it and it isn't my fault?

Refer to T&Cs. Swopping out was not guaranteed in the past. I use to work in retail and can vouch for that. Also understand the Guarantee implies that the manufacturer will cover the cost of the repairs excluding transport where with warranty you pay a pro-ratio cost of that repair.

Guarantee does not imply swop outs.

(Use to educate all my customer on this in the many years I sold products. Refer to the supplied warranty/guarantee card for the exact details)

Geez, the reliability on these Samsung plsmas seems very bad :(

I hope the new range will be more reliable!

Sigh :(

This is going to be a painful process, isn't it?

So I have to contact samsung themselves to send a techie, the tv has a 12 month samsung warranty?

Ricoza - Go onto Samsung website www.samsung.co.za, then go to "contact us". Write up your problem and submit. Samsung will contact you in regarding the problem and samsung will arrange a tech to come see your TV.

Thats right!!
even if you do what i did and call them on a daily basis, it still takes ages!!

Now I definitely say there is something wrong with these 50" plasma Samsungs... Mine also died and within a week of purchase with funky red, purple and green pixels..

My 42" did the same after a month, and it was repaired for longer than a month, so actually i lost a whole month on my warranty/guarantee
Thanks Samsung for your non-existent effort in keeping me as the client happy!!

I went through 5 plasmas over the past three weeks. Each buzzed above normal tv volume and the one even had a faulty panel.

Get a la46c750 instead. I am done with plasma.

Oh sorry forgot to add that. They were samsung ps50c550 and ps42c450

Ja, everyone is complaining about the samungs, my brother has a LG, had it +- 2 years now, he bough it secondhad from someone, and guess what, not one single issue ever
wonder where the defender of Samsung is today  :p

O jirre...and I have a PS42C430 on order from Tarsus. It is for family that live in Sutherland. Imagine the fak up if that thing breaks down. I wonder if I shouldn't rather cancel? Sounds like it.....sheeeeit.

Some people on this forum are more than happy with the samsung, they will actually defend it to the grave :)
(strange he has not made a appearance yet)
but if i knew then what i know now, i would have cancelled and went for the LG
What really gets me going is that if the after sales was a pleasant journey, i would not have been this negative about Samsung, but after everything, i can’t see myself buying a Samsung plasma again
Luckily for you, you have the CPA behind you!!
