Plasma vs LCD

I've got a 42" LG Plasma, very happy with it. Also had an LCD, was happy with that too :) I think that since you aren't gonna be running any true-HD content, just go for the HD Ready plasma...

Cnet is not a credible source, thanks :) I will trust the Display engineers opinions over paid web advertising...

Notice that I said UNLESS, and prefaced my argument with plasma's from 2009 and 2010...

My argument still stands for the OP's needs, wants, and wallet.

My kids sometimes leave the DvD's they watch on where it just shows the load screen for hours before I realise it, since I don't watch TV much. In that case a Plasma is out of the question then. I nearly made a big mistake :D Thanks for reminding me.

Yep ... the guys at the office didn't log the systems into one of our plasmas in the office ... nice "Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to login" and "Windows 7 Enterprise" burnt into the screen ... after only about 12 hours of leaving it like that

Not credible? Lol. Uhm. Okay then. I'm sure I can google many other sites to prove my point, but I'm guessing they aren't "credible" sources either? :p
 
I think it's fairly irrelevant , are we part of the EU ? If you keep your energy saving settings to medium you will be sorted. I have not noticed a spike in my electricity bill. Besides it's more harmful to the enviroment actually making the displays , but hey money talks. *mumble* bloody hippie liberal scum...:P

Cell Light: 7
Contrast: 77
Brightness: 52
Sharpness: 18
Colour: 52
Tint: 50/50 (but greyed out)

Detailed settings

Black adjust: Off
Dynamic contrast: Low
Gamma: +1
Colour space: Auto
White balance:
R - offset 15 Gain 22
G - offset 16 Gain 19
B - offset 15 Gain 14
Flesh tone: 0
Edge enhancement: ON

Picture options

Colour tone: Normal
Size: 16:9
Digital NR: Auto
DNIE: Off
HDMI Black level: Normal

Try these, they work pretty well for me. One thing that i only found out after a while is that all these settings are specific to the source, so you will have to set them for each individual Source input.

Ja, standard sometimes works. A friend has a LG plasma, no matter how much we worked on it the standard settings just looked so much better.

Go figure :wtf:

Agreed!
As far as i have researched, Plamsa TV's are ear marked for ban-nation, due to the energy efficiency ratings. Not because of the technology. Did you know sony is buying back the old CRT Tv's? Older model Plasma were guilty of high electricity usage, but not nearly as much now on the 2009 models, and the 2010 models are even more economical. The EU are extremely strict when it somes to energy star ratings.
