Please Critisize My Site

not to mention the money i'd save in having to drive to jeffrey's bay - i could just takes the pics from my back yard here in PE with that lens :)

yea, the 500mm is pretty much the same price here. i use a tripod as it is with surf photography as holding a camera for a few hours at an end is not as fun as it may sound :) - but yea, not completely sold on it - would rather shop around more - hear complaints about blurry images etc with it.

ah, awesome. i'm still very much a hobby photographer - but thanks for the compliments. i'm keen to get a bigger lens for surfing - and was checking out that lens at our Katz Digital here in PE (don't think that's the same as your Cats Digital is it?). but still looking around - perhaps might get a quality refurbished one.
I'm going to get some used lenses from BH - they have a good rep so I'm not panicking (too much) over the idea of buying them sight unseen. :)

Those complaints you hear about are because its not stabilised ... and a lot of people still try take photos without a tripod.

Hence the reason I love the sony so much ... its stabilised :)

Eitai - including a session id in your URLs might cause problems with search engines. It gives spiders different URLs with the same content, which makes them less likely to treat the pages individually, and possibly not even index them at all.

Did you add these to your URLs because your php.ini settings for session.use_trans_sid is set to "on"?

Hi.

Where did you see my php.ini :P ... I use osCommerce which has a built in platform to recognise tons of search engines ... and so it actually removes SID's from the url when it detects a search engine.
If you look at any searches on the major search engines ... they are SID free ... and if any smaller international engines have them .. its not the end of the world, because I am targeting locally anyway ... and 90% of the people use google and the other 10% Ananzi.

osCommerce might be stripping them for search engines but I wouldn't know because only your home page is indexed with Google and that is the only one without a SID.

sorry ... this was meant to be replied earlier ... but my iBurst is crapping out. If you are browsing my site yourself ... then osCommerce actually adds those to the links ... each person has his own that osCommerce automatically adds. Search engines don't ... or shouldn't see those.

If you click on this link
http://www.google.co.za/search?hl=en&q=site:digitaladdiction.co.za&meta=
you will see that google doesn't index the SID.

Looks like everything is OK there Eitai. As long as your admin settings - Admin > Configuration > Sessions > "Prevent Spider Sessions" is set to "True" & your spiders.txt is up-to-date then there should be no problems in that area.

Hi. Thanks for your input ... thats exactly what I've done.

Prices are a bit strange. Behatzleha hamood!

Hi.

Please could you explain what you mean, are they expensive or what? I don't always get the chance to update the price ... so sometimes they're out of date ... and heres a little tip for the forum if you guys wanna buy anything from me ;) ... if you ask for a discount, you may be pleasantly surprised :). The hebrew means "Good Luck Sweety" or something like that ... right?

Just one more question Eitai - did your menu system come with osCommerce or was it an add-on?

It was a contribution ... dynamenu ... I see there is a problem with that and firefox, not sure how to fix it though,

On the mac . .
Safari - huge whitespace at the top - menus dont work
Firefox and Camino the menu overruns the skype status area
Opera - seems fine.

I'm getting a Skype "I'm online" across the menu. Could be my Firefox browser doing that or it could be in your code.

The reason I asked about the menu is because it is heavy in Javascript and could cause problems with search engines burrowing deep into your site's pages. If you know about dynamenu and feel safe that they will let search engines through, then that's OK.

Is there a way from your osCommerce admin panel to give your product pages dynamic page titles? Having the same title for each page is not the best way to go IMO. Ideally, your titles should be unique and should describe the product on the page. You will be competing against many other sites with similar products and if they have descriptive titles and yours doesn't then they will most probably get better search results placings. Same goes for your META Descriptions.

Ya ... I've noticed that menu problem with the skype thing ... its got something to do with most other browsers aside from IE, and a few others ... not sure what though. Thanks for checking Bwana.
In that link I gave you above, you will see that the search engines seem to categorise my sites menus as well.
The admin doesn't have a section for dynamic page titles, there is actually a contribution I want to install called Header Tag Controller that sorts this and meta tags out ... but I have stopped installing contributions till the developers sort everything out once and for all.

Just thought I should mention it because some menu systems make it hard for search engines. Javascript, being mainly a client-side scripting language, relies on user actions like mouseovers etc. Spiders do not have mice so certain links might not be visible to them. If you find that Google is not indexing all your pages you can add an HTML sitemap link on your home page. You can also try Google sitemaps www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ . You would need a program like CoffeeCup Google Sitemapper to crawl your site and the upload the resulting XML file to your site's root.

damn its all cluttered up in firefox, with pictures disabled, for folks thats on gprs/edge and wanna save mb's.
Guess this cannot be fixed.

How do I set up firefox to not show pictures ... wanna see what you mean.
