just a question has anyone ever got 512k on the test

I get about 51.2K on the 384K package here in C.T

It would seem that spending extra $$$ on 512 is really not worth the $$$ considering the speeds that most 512K users seem to get ... the highest reading afaik is 56K.

Did you all crash that site... I remembered to check when I got home and...

The page cannot be displayed error shows up.

I'll try again later. Also if I could ask, I have mentioned it many times before, though if you look at the Telkom Speed test FAQ.. it says that the test should only be used on ISDN and 56k modems? What gives?

Edit

LOL just hit refresh on that page and got a reply exactly like this!:
http://www.telkom.co.za is Busy

The application web server is too busy to handle your request at this time.

Please try your request again momentarily.

did test three time and get between 53 - 58Kb download speed but it seems slower tonight. Maybe telkom caught on that 384 were going faster than 512.

With the prices coming down next month I went to the local Telkom office 2 days ago and asked them to upgrade my 384K to 512K.

Well it seems my connection was indeed upgraded as promised.

Not bad for a 384k line ;)

BTW my home line has been a genuine 384k (40 odd KB/s) for the past eight months - this morning I had a nice surprise. Off to buy a lotto ticket methinks :D

They havent configured your setup yet, they will get around to do it. I remember i got these speeds also for about a month. However if it stays @ 32kB check your next account to c that they are not charging you for 384
