They havent configured your setup yet, they will get around to do it. I remember i got these speeds also for about a month. However if it stays @ 32kB check your next account to c that they are not charging you for 384

No, it's only been this fast since yesterday afternoon. Before that I usually got about 19-20 kB/s. Unfortunately, it's back to the old speed. Still slightly too fast, though.

Definitely something odd... I'm on 384k as well... I now get:

Your line speed is approximately 464.6 Kbps or 56.9 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

A mere six days ago - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=245566&postcount=27

( I've pressed Ctrl+F5 numerously & I've had ADSL since Nov 2004 ) :p

As a side note, I just started up a 200MB+ local download and I'm getting constant 52KB speeds... 10MB in the past 3:20min

Not complaining ;-)

 fiddlesticks...

# Estimated line speed: 181.2 (kilobits/second)
# Estimated line speed: 22.2 (kiloBytes/second

Line speed is probably right for a 192kbps now. Been doing the test a few times and it sticks between 170 - 190.

HomeDSL512K
capped range (165.165.32.x)
Your line speed is approximately 434.5 Kbps or 53.2 kBytes/sec
Isnt it surposed to be 512Kbps? Whats going on here? People with 384Kbps are getting higher rates than me, and I pay more? If thats the case i'm moving down to 384k because thats bull****.

And then...
As for my router's link to the exchange:
Non-interleaved (Fast)
Up stream 384 Kbps
Down stream 640 Kbsp

How then, am I supposed to get DSL1024k ? Apparently everyone elses exchanges have been upgraded and ppl are getting an excess of 4096Kbps down!?

Can anyone explain way I, and others, have been getting such high speeds on HomeDSL 192 over the weekend? Even now it's still 10 kB/s to fast. Not that I'm complaining.

Yes, but why? I just can't believe that Telkom would give one more than what one pays for, even at their ridiculously ADSL prices.

I've just had an update on my speed too.

Until Monday last week (11-07-2005) I was getting an average of 19 or 20kB/s
For the whole of last week after I fixed my jack I was getting an average of between 32 and 35kB/s

Today I just ran the Telkom speed test and got the following

Your line speed is approximately 320.4 Kbps or 39.3 kBytes/sec
Download time: 12.735 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 320.4 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 39.3 (kiloBytes/second)

Something is definately up with Telkom

There'll be snow in Durban, rain in Mier, a volcanic eruption in the Outeni!ua and a zero unemployment rate, before that happens...
