Please help me understand the SONOFF Mini

It looks like the answer is the sonoff s-mate... but it needs to be paired with al least one Sonfoff Mini R3.
Or the s-mate 2 with Mini R4.

It is basically a RF transmitter and receiver, that can be used to switch scenes

If I understand what you want to do correctly, it should be straightforward

  • I have a Mini in the garage connected to the garage light and a lever switch ( the Mini does push button / momentary switches as well ).
  • I have a Basic R3 in the bedroom controlling an under bed LED light strip

Using the Ewelink app, I created a scene that would turn on the under bed light when the garage light was switched on. I used the lever switch to turn on the garage light, and the under bed light turned on.

Is that what you're after ?

Ah, awesome! That'll work perfectly for what I need. So no need for the RF link then.

Thanks very much. I just want my under counter kitchen lights to switch on with the other kitchen lights, and not keen to do it via wiring.

Got everything hooked up yesterday with 2 Sonoff minis that I had.

I assume that it won't work if the internet is down? Luckily I never really experience that.

For the Mini's, there's a setting labeled " LAN control ". Make sure it's enabled for both devices. Your scene will continue to work in the event of an internet outage
