Been on 10/5 for just over a year, havent had 1 downtime. Amazing and have been recommending Vox to friends and family. Running on Octotel lines.

Using satellite. Very expensive.
Technical support is 5 star.
Uptime - I cannot remember the last time I experienced down time with them however I am using an low wattage transmitting device so the speed is terrible.
The sales team has not come back to me with alternatives after multiple inquiries.
IP phone quality is bad.
They need to back up their product offering with the right price and sales team.

Too high priced , otherwise I would move over today.

Been on VDSL 20/5 with them since 2014. No issues, data always comes down at close to 19.8 Mb/s with a sub 20ms ping.

Excellent!

...With the exception of their email support.
Twice I had to wait about 5 days for them to respond to an email.
On the plus side, I've only ever had to email them those 2 times, in almost 3 years.

Vox is the best ISP I've used on Openserve's network. Whatever they're doing, they should keep it up.

Their support is usually extremely good at communication and only really falls short on the advanced queries. I was forced to migrate my fibre line to Vox for them to support me in getting IPv6 connectivity via Hurricane Electric sorted and after migrating, they said they can't help me.

Almost a year with them now. From network side they are great. One of those things you forget about because it always just works.

On their business practice is where I have a problem.
They sent out a sappy email in December (I think) stating that they are so sorry, but they have to increase their price. I took it on the chin, because this is South Africa and we are all use to price increase. Only to later find out they only increased the price of their current customers. New customers could still sign up for the old price.

Querying them two times I got two different responses: 1st just a copy pace of their increase email and the second the guy saying the website is just not updated and the price is wrong. Two months later their website price is still cheaper than what I am paying.

Obviously they can make their prices what they want, but this just doesn't sit right with me.

Guess it's my fault for taking a 12 month contract. Next month I'm gone.

Yeah couldn't agree more. They rock on Openserve. The JHB IPC has been having some issues now a then but for the most part it's been excellent. It's a pitty their international latency is slightly higher than others. To London on CISP and Supersonic it's like ~167ms but with Vox it's 180ms but speed wise. Great.

Customer service is really good on Vox.
Tweeted a query yesterday afternoon and it was fielded within minutes. Follow-ups are within seconds once you've made contact.
Quite a few companies could learn from Vox. Yes, Telkom - I am looking at you.

I have been with a number of ISPs including Telkom, Afrihost and WebAfrica, but I must say in the less than two months that I have been with Vox it has been a nightmare.

I signed up for 400GB capped Openserve fibre. First of all the capped fibre packages are not even listed on the website. You have to ask a sales representative to email the packages to you.

I was already a bit skeptical because of the lack of information so I asked the sales representative in the online chat whether there is free data between 12 am and 6am as with the fat pipe DSL data accounts. The sales representative confirmed that there is free data.

Today my account ran out of data after only using 101 GB of peak data. The off-peak data was being deducted from my 400 GB cap, thus I was not getting 12 am to 6 am free data as I was told by the sales representative.

After my account stopped working I made contact with tech support on the online chat only to be told by tech support that fat pipe capped accounts on fibre do not get free data between 12 am and 6 am.
After phoning tech support after the online chat, I was then told that sales will get back to me on Monday and that I will just have to sit without data until Monday. What kind of service is this? I work from home and I am heavily dependent on internet for my work. I have been forced now to switch over to a family member's WebAfrica account for the time being.

The best of all is that the fat pipe account with fibre costs the same as the same 400 GB fat pipe account for DSL but then the DSL account does get free data between 12 am and 6 am. This is daylight robbery in my opinion. Paying the same for less. Now think for a moment, what would prevent me from just cancelling my fat pipe account with Vox but leaving the fibre line with them (this is possible, I checked the cancellation page) and then applying for a 400 GB fat pipe account for DSL which does come with free data and just using that with my Openserve fibre. It will work perfectly fine as I am currently using a WebAfrica DSL data account as Openserve fibre also makes use of PPPoE same as DSL. It would cost me the same as what I am paying now. That really blows my mind. Vox your marketing is broken in my opinion.

I did however print the online chat correspondence between myself and the original sales representative so I have clear proof that I am not receiving what I was told I would receive. I will thus demand that Vox enable free data on my account as also refund the money that I had to pay for the time that I am without the Vox service.

If they refuse then I am willing to seek legal advice as I am sick and tired of companies not knowing what is going on only for the consumer to suffer the consequences of the companies' ignorance.

I would not recommend Vox to anyone looking to get fibre internet.

So far I have not received one apology from Vox. If it was easy to kick them on the bum and move on, I would.

I went through exactly what you did and was equally pissed off. I was happily using my Fat Pipe account on a line with another ISP and I migrated thinking I was getting the same "Fat Pipe" experience... Nope.

I just remembered that Vox's billing is also absolute crap. I was forced to log a ticket with Vox every single time there was a billing change on my account due to an upgrade, cancellation, etc. to get them to adjust my credit/amount owing. It was ALWAYS wrong. Then when I eventually cancelled my Openserve fibre, they indicated I owed them R1500 early cancellation penalty, despite the account being "month to month" AND I paid all the fees upfront to avoid this. Had to log another ticket to get them to scrap that.

I was told now by Vox that apparently the DSL Fat Pipe account will only work for a short while on a fibre line and then it will stop working.

In that case I will probably be moving to Cool Ideas. At least from what I gather their uncapped package is no nonsense uncapped.

Stay away from Vox!

Took them nine months to install our business fibre, and they still haven't finished the PABX switch-over (because they say our internal network is not up to scratch). You would think that they have the know-how or technical skills to bring our internal network up to scratch, even if it is an additional cost?

They are just spewing lies at you....

I use a 400GB Vox special ADSL fat pipe account on a 200Mbps fibre line. It has uncapped usage. Did over 200GB in one night in the zero rated data time.

It even gives me the .voxdsl.co.za ip range but works fine at full speed. Don't know what it shows for fibre accounts though.

That's what I suspected. They are just a bunch of liars trying to scam people.
I just don't know how I would cancel the fibre fat pipe without them also cancelling the fibre line as apparently that is also not possible otherwise I would just have cancelled the fibre fat pipe and kept the line and just signed up for a separate DSL fat pipe account.

How long have you been using that fat pipe account with a fibre line?

Why not transfer you line to ISPAfrika or Isat and pay them for line rental only and signup for a fatpipe dsl only? What line speed do you have and cap? What price are you paying since there is no cap prices on the website.

I am paying R736 for the line through Vox and R299 for the fat pipe account.

I wonder if this would be covered by the consumer protection act even if it is stipulated in the terms and conditions if a sales rep gave the wrong info. Probably the consumer is just screwed over.

So how long have you been using the fat pipe account with fibre? I just don't want it to be terminated or something later.

I assume you are using 100Mbps? Isat has the 100Mbps line only for R599 and 200Mbps for R829. Although I have only recently started using it on my Openserve fibre line it's been available for ages. Shared it with someone that has a fibre line for a while so yeah I doubt they will stop it unless they specifically start blocking B numbers for connecting to it which is very unlikely.

IF that happens you just get a capped account from Axxess, Cybersmart or as a last resort Afrihost or Openweb. You will still be saving lots of money and they all have uncapped between midnight and 6am except for Cybersmart that only offers 1TB of afterhours data.
