Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Got that from the call centre, when the initial one failed. Perhaps I should have asked here first, but I was working from home and needed help ASAP.
Anyway, for trial accounts to be so mismanaged doesn't inspire confidence.
Telkom works out cheaper for now, so I'm afraid I'm off there.
No loyalty in this game, unfortunately :)

The account I supplied you initially failed because you typed the username incorrectly.

Code:
/var/log/archive/radius_provision_proxy/radius_provision_proxy.log.02-05-2013.gz:Wed May 1 17:37:38 2013 : Auth: Login incorrect (Home Server says so): [janitor,[email protected]/] (from client wblv-ip-aaa-2-1 port cli xxxx)
/var/log/archive/radius_provision_proxy/radius_provision_proxy.log.02-05-2013.gz:Wed May 1 17:38:00 2013 : Auth: Login incorrect (Home Server says so): [janitor,[email protected]] (from client wblv-ip-aaa-1-1 port cli xxxx)

The difference between , and . (comma and point) is an authenticated session. You did managed to connect for two days and downloaded about 10gigs before you disconnected. Searching by your cli the next time you connected is on the 2nd of May with the new account.

No loyalty in this game, unfortunately :)

All good :)

Have a good one!

Thanks for the feedback.

Is anyone else experiencing slow connection speeds.
I'm not even downloading anything, just trying to browse
I'm in Southern Suburbs, CT
1MB line

Could also be a bad line. Log into your router and check under dsl stats and post your SNR and attenuation figures.

eg:

Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
Traffic Type: ATM
Status: Up
Link Power State: L0

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 301 260
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 200 105
Output Power (0.1 dBm): 172 121
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 12256 1196

Path 0 Path 1
Downstream Upstream Downstream Upstream
Rate (Kbps): 4096 512

Thanx Wingnut

I'm on a 1MB account
Taken off my modem.
I don't know how to read this?
Can anyone help?

Modem Status
Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 512
Ds Rate (Kbps) 2048
US Margin 14
DS Margin 11
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0

US Line Attenuation 26
Peak Cell Rate 1207 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 910

Hi Razzle

The main things I look out for are margin, attenuation and sync rate.

I see you are syncing at 2mb. Your margin and attenuation don't look too good compared to mine.

Seeing you only have an one meg account, it might help to phone telkom and ask to resync your line to 1mb. Is your line noisy when you pick up the phone? If yes, log a line fault.

Have a look at this:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...Margin-quot-and-quot-Line-Attenuation-quot-be

No, my line is not noisy at all.
Thanx for the help wingnut.

No prob, do those readings fluctuate at all? I heard it helps to leave the phone off the hook, does something to the voltage or something.

whahahahaha! this made my day :)

Those figures remain constant. The don't change at all.

Then I assume you must be quite far from the exchange. I think your best bet for now is to downgrade ADSL line to 1mb to help with stability.

How does the shaping work on the 4Mbps account? With my current ISP I get around 50 - 60 kBps max on torrents during the day up to around 17h00. And how about shaping on gaming protocols, http etc? How does it work? Do the taps also open at around 17h00 with you guys?

Do you guys offer trial accounts?

Thanks!

Have a look at a previous response of mine on this forum - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ed-ADSL-Feedback/page25?p=9892036#post9892036 which will answer your questions.

For trial accounts just drop [email protected] an email and they can create one for you.

Morning,

We have some IPC links that are currently down in Cape Town; It's been reported to Telkom so at the moment we waiting on them for feedback. CTN users will experience some additional latency till it's resolved.

Feedback will follow as it becomes available.

Telkom confirmed that this is due to a network fault and that they are busy localising the fault at the Forshore exchange. Still no ETA.
