POE2

surely you would want to play on frames higher than that?
Why? I'm a firm believer that frame rates over about 60 are wasted. I'd rather have the high quality rendering. 50 is smooth enough for this game, and it's all this little 4060 can manage.

My replacement card is on the way though, should arrive today :)

you said 30-40, not 60. What refresh rate is your monitor? 60?

I said 40-50 :)

Yeah it's not perfect but it's doable considering the 4060 was a stopgap because I couldnt bear the crap rx570 any more.
Monitor is 144hz capable

What's more relevant though is the game doesn't seem cpu bound to me. Maybe that will change with a proper gfx card.

I checked my performance today.
About 40-50fps, 3840x1440, all the quality maxed out. Gpu 96%, cpu around 30%.
Rtx4060 + ryzen 5 3600, 64gb ram

I'm at 2560x1440, quality settings or resolution doesn't do anything for me lol. I can max out everything, turn everything down (including the resolution), the CPU is still maxed out while my FPS doesn't change at all.

Meanwhile I'm busy writing my own entity component system for Unity in C# code which is worse than C/C++, but you can still easily do for example 20 million add operations per frame at 60fps. But in PoE2 my Witch is standing there in an empty scene doing nothing and the CPU can somehow only deliver 30 frames a second...

What CPU do you have? I have the i5-9600k with a 1080 and the CPU maxes out.

I have the same i5. I found this thread and tried some things now:
I already had reverb disabled, but I switch my audio amount to low. I disabled the front/back fps caps and just set desired to 120. Then when the game is running I can run Process Explorer to change its priority to realtime (I'm on cheap Win10, so I can't do it from the normal task manager).

That already seems to boost my fps to about 56 when idle and about to 28 when fighting. I'll play with it some more this evening.

I've been trying to play as SSF regarding items, but its nearly impossible to craft anything yourself.

In a few days of farming I haven't managed to find or roll one +minion related skill, its a bit annoying.

60 to 60+ isn't as noticeable as the difference between 30 and 60. I'm not sure why people chase anything over 60 anyway, you can just increase your fidelity at that point. Plus I'd rather have a stable frame rate than an inconsistent one...

Some are better at perceiving the difference than others. I can say that there is a clear difference going from 60 to 120, there's is a feel of fluidity that you do not get at 60 (not that 60 is bad, it's totally acceptable). If I have been playing at high refresh for long enough then going back to 60hz feels noticeably more juddery until you re-adapt.

30 vs 60 is definitely a lot more stark, but high refresh is not still very noticeable.

Yeah I notice it too on performance mode on console. Going from 60 to 120 isn't that noticeable, going from 120 back to 60 is. The trick is to not go to 120 in the first place, then you won't know any better...

So did a bit of tweaking last night and this morning
70-100fps depending on how much is going on. 1440p ultrawide, but with FSR upscaling from I think it was 70%?
All the rest maxed out.
CPU 30-80%

Since I switched back to AMD graphics, no loading screen crashes at all. GPU does run at 100% on loading screens - so I bet it's something to do with texture/shader caches.

1440p
All settings maximum, NIS no upscaling
110 to 140 fps depending on model count.
GPU 99%
CPU can vary from 17% when no monsters on screen to 80% when a crap ton of stuff is happening.

I'm on a RTX4070 laptop and am getting about 95fps with everything on max and Nvidia DLSS on (quality setting). With no upscaling or NIS I get about 60fps. 1440p resolution.

CPU is i7 13700H and have 32GB ram.

I finally managed to craft a weapon with +2 minion and a good amount of spirit. After buffing it to 20% it made a pretty big difference to my game.

ssf just takes a bit of time and you never going to have the same power as trade.

Yeah, unfortunately my low fps is really getting to me. On some maps I've managed to make it better, but overall its just getting to me.

At < 20 fps you have no time to react when stuff go bad, and it seems the higher I go up in maps the more lag I'm hitting while being pretty much one shot. I guess I'll call it for now, maybe they'll fix it down the line.

Are the SA servers bad today or is it just me? Ping is unstable for me from last night. Have tried with both Vodacom and Telkom internet:

Wonder when we will be able to link/share POE2 characters without manually putting the whole build together in PoB or other sites.

I've been tinkering with a few builds. Tried out spellcasters like Essence Drain again now that I can invest into GG gear. Still felt really slow for clearing and bosses. Other spells can be good but mana is an issue so you have to sort of go the mana stacking route if playing with spells. Best mapper is probably still Invoker Ice Strike at low investment (like a few divines).

The one I've decided to go all in and min-max is a Choir of the Storm build. Went with Invoker again so gear is cheap as no need for spirit on gear. Build is lvl88 right now and deletes all content including bosses nearly instantly with just one button. Have 7.5k ES CI (15k while mapping) and 8k evasion. Using Cast on Crit, Grim Feast, Blink, Ghost Dance. Have 100% spell crit rate with 728% crit multiplier.

Using 5 uniques: 2x Seed of Cataclysm rings with close to 60% crit rate and crit multi each. Ingenuity belt which turns those into about 100% crit rate and crit multi. So total about 200% crit rate and crit multi from the rings alone. Choir of the Storm amulet which is the damage dealer. Trampletoe boots for the overkill AOE damage. The boots is needed for map clearing.

Rare gear is: +5 lightning spell wand with extra lightning damage and high crit chance for spells. Focus with high ES, lightning damage and high crit chance for spells. Gloves with crit damage bonus and high ES. Body with high evasion and ES (1000 evasion and 400ES). Helmet with high ES and crit chance. Also double resists on all the pieces with enough attributes to allow the gear/skills to be used and get res capped.

Skill gem setup is just Eye of Winter. Kept at lvl13 which is the min level with chain, unleash, proj speed, proj bounce to make it hit more things. This is the only skill that is used.

On Cast on Crit there is just a lvl9 Frost Wall. Kept low level to keep mana costs low. Supports are things like spell cascade to make more of them. This is just there to proc more crits which procs more lightning bolts. When Eye of Winter or Choir of the Storm lighting bolts hits the walls, you proc more lightning bolts and frost walls.

I think this is the best version of a Cast on Crit build you can come up with without mana stacking. Choir of the Storm doesn't use any mana. So there is zero mana investment. Also zero cast speed investment. You just use Eye of Winter and everything on the screen dies.

I've seen a few builds that do this but not with this much ES or defenses whilst still stacking on so much damage. Many cast on crit builds have not solved the mana issue and instantly run out of mana on bosses. Also if not going Invoker you'd need spirit on the chest and helmet for the same setup which will reduce defenses a lot and cost a ton more to put together (expensive).

Edit: Finally decided to do all the citadels I was saving and Arbiter. They all died instantly before they could do anything. This build worked out even better than I imagined. Arbiter dropped a 60div chest.

Edit2: Figured out how to use the new POB2 and export to maxroll. Here is current build: https://maxroll.gg/poe2/pob/6157f00p

Looking forward to the new season starting next Thursday. Not sure what to expect but hoping for end game balance/tuning.

Finished off the last season with 2 mirrors (found one and sold an item for one), 1000 div and 8000 exalts. Played ranger 92, witch 91 and sorc 97. I probably have a mirror invested in witch and ranger. With my sorc I must have atleast 5 mirror investment. I manged to get 300 hours out of the game which is better than 90% AAA games from one season.

I will be playing whatever the new class is next season unless new skills are developed for sorc then I will main sorc and branch out into the others.

Can someone please add me the the mybb guild. Xcalibersa23#9426
