The company doesn't accept requests for new pokestops & gyms last time I checked

Whoever does it is an urban dweller with no freaking idea what a pain it is to play if you live in a rural area.

the reddit thread and trainertips video both say that.
but it seems like it.

so basically as I understand it, pidgey evolutions will be 12 for the first one, and 8 after that. because you get 2 when evolving, and 2 when transfering.
so 30 pidgey candies gets 3 evolutions.


our plan is to do an evolution spree and transfer spree when the event goes live (either tommorow morning if Niantic understnad time zones, or tommorow night if Niantic is like every other east coast based company.)

clear out the sptrage, go walk the buddies and egggs. go to a park we found on sunday with 6 pokestops in about a 200m line, lure all of them, drop an incense, egg and walk up and down between all of them to get the wife cought up to me in level. she can go from 24 to 30, and I can go from 29 to 30 on thursday.

she will use loads of eggs and I will sponsor the lures. and not use any eggs myself.

maybe at 2 candies per km it will feel worth it.

Fiance was walking her carp from the buddy system launch until last week. she got like 30 candies in that time, but when you get a candy and it just does not feel like you achieved anything it gets disheartening.

she went for a bulba now instead, and even though its 3KM, it feels like you get somewhere, counting down from 13 needed to 9 needed just makes it feel like you are getting somewhere.


I will be walking a seal, after the squirtle.
hopefully I will catch a few Carps on those days. just need to find a spawn point for them in the PTA area (and time to go there, I mean I am getting married on monday...)

there is a massive debate on reddit right now.
will the event start at local time on the 26th or will it be at the moment it becomes the 26th in one place.

basically the question is, will the event start when your local time is 00:01 on the 26th or when its 00:01 on the 26th in San Fransisco/New Zeland

because the spawn data sits server side, the question becomes is the change happening based on client time zone or a server side setting

Seems like 10 am utc is the most likely time.

That translates to lunch time tommorow for us.

But we don't have anything concrete this is based on ingress info and nothing else.
 
Woke up to my Clefairy only needing 0.25km per candy, so the event has definetly started on our side
There's also a bunch of "scary" pokemon spawns. From the parking lot to my office I catched 2 Gastly & my first ever Drowzee.

edit: I'm getting a lot of Cubone spawns as well. People on reddit are saying Cubone and Meowth are also likely considered in the scary category.

I now have Caterpie as my buddy, since that's only 1Km buddy I have yet to evolve the whole way. After Caterpie I'll be looking at the other 3km Pokemon.
 
This event is pure awesome.
I almost have enough candies to evolve my exxegcute, which I popped in last night only. Started up the game and got 2 candies free.
In an hour I added 2 new pokemon to my pokedex
I also nearly have enough candies to evolve my Haunter to a Gengar
