I also have the very same Gizzu. It works OK if powering just one device, like a laptop or monitor. What annoys me is the fan. It's pretty loud.
If you are getting 12 hours, your monitor is only using around 10w which is very low. The display on the gizzu is an estimate and it may not be totally accurate.
The answer is the Ecoflow lithium range. They've been on the market since 2021 as grey imports before they officially launched last year.

I suppose most people were originally using generators in the beginning when loadshedding started?
Most people are probably still using generators. The upfront cost of a generator is much less expensive if you are comparing output wattage.
An elderly neighbour is on an oxygen concentrator and we’re trying to help him get through load shedding. Looking at both Rizzen and Ecoflow, 720wh Ups. The Rizzen is R5k less but appears to be the same thing, am I missing something?
And I know this isn’t the thread for it, but does anybody know what people on oxygen concentrators are supposed to do during load shedding? He says refilling an oxygen cylinder costs R500 per day. If he can’t afford that, does the government just leave him to die?

Yeah it's the running cost though. 24 bucks a liter can be 100 to 200 bucks a day at stage 6

A portable power station is just meant to be provide portable power. Whether you use it for camping or running your TV, lights, or microwave is up to you.

On paper they do seem to be very similar. Check out warranty/support. Ecoflow have launched local support so if anything goes wrong you can get it sorted out. No idea about the Rizzen.
We've had this argument before. I bought the Ecoflow Delta 1 through an importer in 2021 and I've used it for two years for work until we got solar installed.
Just because a tool is designed for a single purpose initially that doesn't mean it can't be used in other situations/conditions.

Yes you have used it, but the base units cycles weren't great, also how's the battery life? As it's cycles aren't great to start with.
The new ones are all Lifepo4 and cycles should no longer be an issue. A portable power station is basically an inverter + battery + charger combined into a single device.
If you are looking at Ecoflow then I would only look at the new models with Lifepo4 e.g. River 2 Max, Delta 2. Which models Rizzen and Ecoflow were you looking at? How much power does the oxygen concentrator use?

Most people were using ESKOM before loadshedding started.
After about 2 years of regular use it's probably at about 70-80% of its original capacity. Only issue is that the load balancing goes out of whack every few months and needs to be reset by completely draining the unit.
