Likewise.. been paying R1350 for Rain Fixed LTE via Afrihost since August 2018... It served really well for 16 months, but around January it deteriorated heavily and haven't really recovered... I work remotely full time (software developer) for an American firm, so I really depend on having a decent internet connection. Thankfully all communication is done via Instant Messaging / Email so, I can get away with not having to Skype/Zoom/whatever.

But this year, I've probably spent R2000-3000 just on additional data for my iPhone so I can tether MTN 4G, as Rain constantly dies on me when I have to work.
I Feel your pain , I'm a Snr Citrix Engineer , So i do support for quite a few clients, So to me being and staying connected is Critical . I need to do a lot of remote sessions onto infrastructure to do either maintenance or troubleshooting ,A lot of them have 2FA Enabled , So image having to re-authenticate every 15 - 20 min on 3 or 4 clients, To put it nicely "Jy kan n eier in my gat kook soms" especially if your busy with installations and all the sudden the link drops . The best is sitting in a "War Room " and your skype \ zoom \ teams session drops, People dont really like that a lot .

damn man. i should be grateful. what do you use rain for though? streaming or just browsing.

Been a few days since I last updated...
Due to me needing to be available after work hours, I sort of had to "upgrade" to the 24/7 Unlimited, after my mobile data got depleted. ADSL is looking to be an option for me now though.
Initially speed took a dip, but it has since increased and somewhat stabilised. I have forced the B315-936 I'm using to use B38/41 using the huawei band tool, so the upload speed is more than a bit shite.

I mainly use Rain for gaming, mainly Warframe. Ping was absolutely horrendous at first, but has since improved, and has even returned to the same levels it was when I was with Telkom LTE. Some browsing and a wee bit of streaming. Twitch struggles a bit in the beginning, but then stabilises. Youtube is ok, bit of buffering in the beginning. I was able to stream the president's speech last night without issue.

Screenshot below is from early this morning. Haven't tested yet without the band tool, or with my E5186.

Speed does fall off a bit during the day, due to congestion, but it remains in a usable state. The kids have even been able to stream some online lessons without issue.

Might be as a result of the recent additional spectrum allocation.

I think dudes using Vodacom midnight killing rain at night I noticed speeds increase at around 6am till 9am and by increase I mean at best 3MBPS but stable then after that unusable .

So rain is only "usable" between 6am-9am on the tower I'm on
