PostBox-Courier.com how to

Depends on where you are. I have a shipment coming over in the next month so if you're not in a great hurry you can piggy back off my stuff. I'm in Randburg.

if a friend in the US want to send me 2 sticks of PC RAM, whats the cheapest way to send it?
he said the US Post office wants around $50 to post to me
ridiculous.

anyone knows the cheapest way?
its such a small parcel- can fit in your pocket.

hes in Texas.

$50 is too much, I think they're having him on. Global Priority Express flat rate (EMS) is less I think, that product is called EMS elsewhere in the world and when the PO is not on strike takes 3-5 working days with door delivery. He could also send it USPS Priority Mail International with insurance. RAM sticks are light, even when bubble wrapped.

I hear they tried to set CapeMail alight last week

Were do these monkeys think they gonna work once the strike is over & the building is burnt to the ground :wtf:

EMS OR USPS Priority mail is currently not an option with the strike and probably 8 - 12 week backlog and growing. whatever you do, do not send USPS

I for one will never use the Post Office again. I'm even thinking of cancelling my PO Box as the amount of paper mail has dwindled down to the odd bill and car license renewal.

Locally we have RAM, Fastways and Collivery who all deliver excellent service.

I get most of my mail now via e-mail, with the exception of speeding tickets. Lower carbon footprint, and no lost bills. In future, I will be utilising FedEx (either International Economy or Express) instead of USPS.

I think that the Durban mail hub is returning back to normal (I received 4 packages from the UK that I should've received in the first week of September).

Local is not an issue. International is an issue. Couriers are overpriced and sometimes flat out not available.

So was I:confused:
At the moment and probably forever best not use any service that ends up going via SAPO, that refers to all USPS and EMS shipments.

You are confused.

He said someone in the US wanted to charge him $50 for USPS. I responded that USPS services are cheaper than that.

The strike will be over soon and deliveries will resume. We're not so bad yet that we won't have a functional post office quite yet. EMS works in places like India, it will work in SA.

This is the first time I've been affected by a postal strike. I was not even aware there ever were postal strikes because my EMS stuff arrived within 3-5 days, at most 7 days. My airmail stuff usually arrived very quickly, I would say 10-15 working days. The longest I've ever had was 2-3 months but that was surface mail from Malaysia.

You are confused.

No, not confused, best avoid anything with SAPO - I get it that you are saying $50 is too much, thats not the issue.

Anyhow looks like you optimistic regarding our postal service recovering, I'm not.

It's one in the same. Whether it's a UNISA assignment, a purchase from BidorBuy, Amazon delivering books or a USPS originated shipment, the local idiots are responsible and I tar them all with one brush.

Must I pay the full annual price for my post box or will they give me a discount for period I wasn't able to use it?

Does anyone know if both the USPS services are handled by the Post Office?

USPS Express Mail - delivery between 4 to 8 business days
USPS Priority Mail - delivery between 8 to 14 business days

Yes avoid both, the express mail is EMS via post office and the Priority usually get s donated to SAPO workers xmas fund.

My parcel is at the Aramex Delivery Service depot now, so waiting to see how long it takes to come to me now as it is in South Africa :) and so far it's been 3-4 working days, so not bad.

Postal services work by handing over the mail to the relevant local authority. So Singapore Mail will handle to whoever it is that loads mail on flights and transfers mail between flights at hubs, and then in SA it will be handed over to SAPO.

Now there is an USPS Express Product - which is carried by FedEx.

Usually the delivery delays occur in SA as the courier tries his best to screw you over with extra charges or they take their time because the delivery window is so long they have several days to take their time. I found FedEx or UPS being fast before SA, then customs clearance occurs like at 2am and then it's like 2-3 days to get the item after that.
