Power Balance admits no science behind bracelets

If these bracelets are being manufactured in large quantities - as I'm sure they are by the number of people you see wearing them - they would cost around R2 a piece to manufacture. So the minute anyone takes something and puts a 10000% markup on the product it can only be a scam otherwise they would sell them for +/- R10 or R15 if it was a genuine thing.

If the bracelet is a hoax (which I think it is) but it makes you believe you are so much better when wearing it, then by all means wear it :) No problem.

Surely as these Power Balance bracelets depend on the belief of the wearer rather than scientific evidence, this whole topic should be moved the PD section?

These posts sure read like something from PD.

Nope. No belief necessary. They flat-out do sweet ****all, whether you believe it or not.

From facebook:

Brigitte Pienaar hi just want to know does it work for high blood ect.?

Cobus Bisschoff ▶ Pro balance thank you pro balance! years ago my
mom broke her back, now thanks to
your product she can go on with her
life! THANK YOU!

Riekie Smit Coetsee ▶ Pro balance Is this safe for pregnant women?

Karen Du Preez ▶ Pro balance Thank you for my bracelet. My husband
started wearing it immediately. He
usually gets terrible headaches when
he relaxes, caused by stress. This pass
weekend absolutely NO headache. I
sure hope this is the sign of things to come. Heard from someone else who
also didn't get migrane anymore. Keep
up the good work, you guys are
heeling the nation!!!

Rashieda Khan-Omer ▶ Pro balance Can babies benefit from the bracelet?
my lo is 4months old and started
teething. He has been experiencing,
loose stool, swollen gums, excessive
drooling.

No way. For real?

I call this stoopid tax. It's only payable by people who where stoopid enough to pay R500 for a plastic bracelet with a hologram inside. Has anyone ever taken these things apart? There is nothing inside but a paper hologram. That's it. Go check it out for your self.

Now another thing that amazes me is that even after the fact of the scam has been widely posted on Facebook and emails going around for a few weeks now, these guys say they have not seen a drop in sales...?! So who on earth are the idiots who are still buying these things?!?!

Yes, and people who spend their measly earnings on rubber bands for their handicapped kids aren't hurting anyone, so what's the harm.

The issue is much deeper than you seem to think it is.

Religion has been selling the placebo effect for millennia. I don't see the pope publishing corrective adverts and offering refunds. At least with these guys you get something tangible for your money.

yes, but my religion also offers a powerband in the afterlife.
unfortunately member subs are still payable while you're alive and no posthumous credit extension is available.

Religion is (usually) free though. They aren't selling a product.

These bracelets are actually pure genius. Finally we have tags to identify the stupid people :D

Agreed. People really don't think critically enough. Considering how easy research is with access to the internet people have no excuse for being sucked in by such obvious BS

gain 10" now, just add 3 bracelets to your :erm:

I've said it before: it's an idiot tag--it lets your spot the dolts from a mile away so you know how much brain matter you're working with.

Keep 'em, let 'em wear 'em. Thank Power Balance for giving us all one of the most accurate ways to tell which people are worth the time of day.

I'm surprised we had to wait till post 69 for religion to be brought up.

What is of concern is that people who may have a real medical problem will forgo seeing professional help in the misguided belief this will cure/fix whatever issue they have. Read post 65 and other Facebook comments.

I've always considered myself an optimist. But this whole power balance thing really makes me doubt the progress of humanity.. v.v
