You're aware that there have been SoDs called before and after COVID right? Not all SoDs are like the one that was called for that, each one is different.

Yup, in fact just before the COVID SoD one was called for a drought in the EC, KZN has had an SoD called on it, JHB has as well, though we don't get the special treatment KZN gets as we still get load shedding.

Still a big loss for tonight -5600MW

Stage 5 would make that 600MW, So diesel would be able to cover for tonight.

That, or Fire up the Nuclear Power that they should have build in DBN about 20 years ago.

We all know Nuclear is cheaper and better for base load, problem is we need a solution now not 20 years from now. ;)

Sidenote: USA have Nuclear & Nat Gas for base loads.

Very different issue on the table here.

Affects the whole country.
Last time it did there was massive fraud and abuse by the anc.
They are the cause of this.
They have shown no ability to manage the crisis.

Let's pretend it's a normal govt.
How will a SoD help control these problems anyway?

The Democratic Alliances (DA) shadow minister for energy Kevin Mileham said declaring the Eskom crisis a national state of disaster would open up funding for the failing utility to reduce load shedding by up to two stages in the short-term.

All work from home, industries shutdown, they use more power then residents anyway :-). Or a wise government would look at getting those industries on to alternate power to alleviate the grid

The only issue that makes any sense regarding the long term cause is sabotage. There is zero other acceptable reason that enough proper repairs couldn't be done, and there is zero difference that a SoD will make to that.

We've got to stop thinking with business logic here, this is the abusive, manipulating, distorting anc at play here.
