Pre-paid Data Bundles [PPDBs] How To

Hi there,

is there software out there that can keep track of data bundle balance on my laptop ?

I'm not keen to have to take out the datacard SIM all the time and sticking it into a cell phone to get the balance.

I have a Vodacom data SIM that I bought from Gamco (LayerOne), working very well, but it is really annoying to not be able to monitor my data bundle use properly.

Please check again about a smaller data bundle (100mb or so). It would
certainly save me the constant VM SIM swapping hassle. Alternatively
scrap the 30 day-expiry thing so that one could use 500mb over 5 months.

The combination 30-day expiry and large bundles automatically excludes a large part of the market. Why VC would want to do this I don't know. At the moment VC is losing potential data traffic to VM (IMO). Why not keep the customers even if it means lower margins? Clearly it is still viable at lower margins, otherwise VM would be out of business already.

It's called greed. The worst thing to do is ask them. We have to demand it and we can. They owe us not the other way around and they should be saying please.

I spent more on VM and got less for it than would have been the case on Vodacom.

Yes please. Why is Vodacom so stubborn over this issue? Just let the data roll over dammit. I for one would actually spend MORE on data bundles if it didn't have this 'no rollover' thing. Not having rollover actually keeps people away from taking bundles.

They don't need to let it roll over. All they need to do is not check when 30 days are up and then cancel it. ;)
 
Guy's maybe I am just plain doff, but I can only purchase prepaid data bundles for my Family Top up 135 using *111# then selecting the appropriate options. This is a bit of a pain because the sim is in a datacard which is in a wireless router. It has been said that the purchase of data bundles can also been done via vodacom4me, however I have registered on vodacome4me using the sim's allocated cell number and searched hi and lo for an option to purchase data bundles without success, where do I look?
