How can they advertise something and not offer it. That is very bad business practise

Well Vodacom does it again - the latest Yebo News I received indicates the Executive Voicemail Plus Service whereby all voice and fax messages can be send to an email address. Well I subscribed and when I phoned 111 to find out how to enter my email address the following happended:
1. They didn't even know about the service
2. They read up about the service
3. When they couldn't answer my question they told me to go to Vodacare or a Vodashop (this forum is testimony to what the dealers know about Vodacom services)
4. At my insistance he phone CIC and was told the service was never launched/discontinued but that the webmaster was on holiday and had not removed it from the site.

MTN is gonna take the lead in the future it seems. The lesser of the three evils

HAHAHA Look at the ad....

"You can't afford not to have it. Need it today?
Only from Vodacom."

That was 4 months ago you say?

Thanks, I'm still wondering why they feel the need to put it in the brochures, like someone's going to go "I've gotta get me some of that".

Another example is "Mailbox Plus". Basically it should allow you to forward fax and voicemail to an e-mail address (click here for more info). Initially I was able to set the e-mail address but my faxmail and voice mail were never diverted.
So I phoned the helpdesk and later got the following SMS: "Vodacom SMS: Please be advised that the Mailbox plus service is temporarily unavailable due to technical problems. You will be notified as soon as the service is available again. Thanks Kind regards, Vodacom Customer Care (Name of Vodacom employee)"

I was charged R20 for a service that doesn't work. So they get the billing part to work before they get the actual service to work.  Shame on them!

voda3G Please just give us a time period for this prepaid bundle. i need to plan the future and if vodacom is not doing it i will be forced to change to another provider for the internet. to say u guys are taking it easy is an understatement, its been many mnay months. and you'll advertised it as being ready.please sort this out asap or atleast give us a time frame.

PLEASE DONT IGNORE THIS.

Apologies, my mistake :o - just had another look at the [post=411155]image that MrG posted[/post], MyMeg 1GB has an "Effective in Bundle Cost" of R0.50, which is perhaps an indication of rounding up, based on 1GB calculated as 1000MB [as opposed to 1024MB] - I know it's effectively a R0.01 difference and I'm nitpicking here - anyways [as a consumer] I hate prices that aren't rounded off with VAT already included, so R0.50 is palatable, but will hopefully be reduced when HSDPA goes live...:)

Marketing people use a 1000 (for the masses), the billing systems uses 1024, so your real cost is under 50c/Mb, around 48.7c/Mb.

:D

I have another question about VAT on pre-paid bundle purchases - if I round up that 48.7c/MB for MyMeg1[+]GB to R0.49/MB, then the price excluding VAT would be R0.43/MB, is that correct?

I would assume so.

I hear the gnashing of gears.... :)

So... I can imagine what tought problems the team is having with these bundles...

Their hardest problem must be getting the spelling for "3G Prepaid Data Bundle" < Well there it is, now use that and activate the service for us :)
