June / July, I'm told.

Let's hold thumbs!

How ironic would it be if it actually happens june/july A YEAR LATER! ;)
..and lets not hold thumbs [if we have any left , a year of thumb holding can't be good].

This may just prove that MTN is better than Vodacom in the long run.

Trust me, the SECOND it becomes available, it will be announced here with fanfare, dancing girls and all round celebrations!!!

So don't try it every day, don't listen to anyone telling you it's available. I'll let you know the moment it's here.

V3G my fanfare is all old and tattered and my dancing girls are about to go on pension.......any news??????

This has gone on sooooo long that now the thread has been un-stickied...

Very sad :(

(cough) Vodacom Sucks (cough) we all know that now.

I think NOTHING of MTN, I think their technical team are incompetent and network unreliable, but now Vodacom cant do something MTN did in like 2 months, in over 1 year.

MTN now has my respect, Vodacom just went right down the drain for me. I am switching from Vodacom as soon as I can. I dont want anything to do with the network.

Its pathetic how companies can lie to you, hey!

The PR disaster came in with all the published dates that we failed to make. Obviously there are very good (technical) reasons why the systems did not come on-line in the time frames stated. We implemented a system that failed under load but published the launch dates based on projected completion.

You'll understand my reluctance to commit to any new dates, outside of saying that it still of the highest priority to get it going and that everyone is still working to get it out ASAP.

There are other solutions

You know, Vodacom can at least make things better by launching one or two extra packages.

MTN has a data contract that costs R10/month, and iirc you can cancel it with 30 days notice.

So it is like a regular contract (ie. your systems can support this already),but because you are not locked in for 24 months and not payng for services you do not need, I believe many customers would go for it if Vodacom launced such a package. I for one will be there in a Joburg minute.

My 2c

Yeah - i agree!!
Even if you took the current Messenger contract and tweaked it a little - i know there are stacks of people who use messenger contracts just so they can have a contract to bolt bundles onto.

It might even save your butt in this whole pre-paid bundle bungle - giving the low end data users a contract option that they could actually afford

Absolutely, I won't mind paying R10 per month to get such a contract.
But then don't add all that other CRAP like CLI and simsure and itemised billing and whatnot. At R10 each I can take out 2 contracts and least I can have 2 bundles per month.

Vodacom has made some bad mistakes and I believe its time that Vodacom gives something back to the community. What will Vodacom give us to make us forgive them? Cheaper data rates? We all know they can do it!

where are the prepaid bundles???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

someone should lock this thread, its only a place to increase your post count.

Ok, lets give it one nice try:

DEAR V3g,

Can you kindly inform us as to Vodacoms plans regarding prepaid data bundles? Have you shelved the whole idea or is there any hope left?

Hoping to receive a reply from you within 5 mins.

Thanking you,
Best regards,
Mams

Pre-paid bundles obviously is a huge requirement and the plan is (and has always been) to get it out as soon as possible.

When the systems went into final testing, they failed under load and numerous attempts were made to fix the problems.

For a while it looked like the problems could be fixed but the final call was made for a re-look at the whole architecture. Stability of billing systems has to be 200%. You'll agree to that.

This is the current situation and I therefore have no new date.

All I can state (again) is that it still has the highest priority. There are a lot of people with very sticky stuff all over them and it's not a nice situation for anyone.

Vodacom has been extremely open about this whole process with the forum and you guys know I'll feed back whatever I know, but I'm not going to respond to posts consisting of a bunch of question marks.

So the current position is; Pre-paid bundles will be out as soon as humanely possible.

Me thinks telkom is locking this down - because cheaper (or reasonable) 3g will cause a migration from land dsl. And let's remember who really runs vodacom!
