Bring women with me?? Dude the CT women are one of my motivating factors of moving there!

Well in Cape Town they work on an exchange system with women. If you take one of theirs, you have to replace her with a suitable substitute.

haha for you they new ...for me they normal now lol

you can get a nice flat anywhere and travel by train to pinelands

Since moving to Cape Town I work 10 hours a week more than I use to in Pta.... I do believe I am not the rule.

What are good areas to stay in near Pinelands? and how much could I expect to pay for a bachelor pad? And, have to ask this, what's the nearest beach?:o

pinelands is a nice area and well rondebosch is nice as well ....but pinelands is not far from anywhere

well the beach depends ....abit warm water around 18 degrees would be strand gordons bay and if you want ice waters ...clifton, camps bay , llandudno

not being racist but the blacks only use trains in jhb

in cpt everyone does ...people who have expensive cars come park they cars at the station and travel

and abzo if you going to work at mutual there is a station right there

The only time I've been on trains in SA was during the World Cup. I'll need my car anyway since i'll probably want to go out at night and other times without having to rely on trains. Nah I won't be working at mutual, why does everyone keep thinking that? Is it the only big company in Pinelands?

yes lol .....not sure who the others are

but look depends on working hours the trains are busy up until around 6 ....everyone in cpt uses trains

if you stay near to work use the car but for me i work in town and stay belville

with the car would cost me +-1500 a month

with the train its 200

but yeah its up to you and what you want lol

I believe you. I saw a recent study showing that Cape Townians actually work more than Gauteng workers (contrary to popular belief).

But you have to bear in mind:
1) On average you are not stuck in traffic any time near the time you get stuck in traffic in Gauteng. You might get lucky in the short-term in Pretoria if your job and house are close to each other. But to put it in perspective - if I take more than 15 minutes to work I consider it a traffic jam in Cape Town.
2) The sun only sets 20:30 in summer time. It is possible to work till 19:00, then hit the beach for an hour!

IF you can find a decent renter or rental agency that can make sure you do not have hooligans. CPT. PTA is not a bad town. Love my town. But I would love to try our CPT.

It's good that you're thinking of making the jump. What exactly do you want to do with the rest of your working life? Coast? I doubt it. Also, if you're working for the Green Giant, I would hardly worry about having to be an incredibly efficient worker.

I have lived in Cape Town (2.5 years) and Joburg (say over 20 years), and I choose Cape Town any day of the week. This place is cosmopolitan, well run (go DA), clean, close to beaches, that flippin mountain, wine farms and so on. As someone else mentioned Cape Town has alot of "individual secrets" - in Joeys everything feels so standardised and corporate. Here you'll find some of the best Coffee Shops in the country (the best I'd wager), fashion etc. There is also more than one employer here. So even if you got fired, you'd find another job. There are less jobs some say, but in the same light, also less competition.

Man up and do it!
 
If Alot of people use the trains then I suppose it's safer than I imagine. I'll initially be staying in the lansdowne area so might use the train at first. I'm just used to having a car around. What if u want to go out during lunch or something?

where i work i have the range lol

but yeah thats why i say totally up to you

landsdowne is nice ....but yeah

i prefer the north but alot more activity in the south (landsdowne side)
 
Lansdowne?? Not my first choice. But its cheap and you can learn the local dialect faster than say, living in Pinelands or Rondebosch. I would say digs in Lansdowne cost 1/2 that of Pinelands

I have a friend there so I'll crash with him till I get my own pad. Looking to move to Rondebosch probably.
