but just see how slow it runs i get .3kbytes/s down
but 5kb when using dialup
don't ping the site (pointless)

3) packet shapers do not look at the data, they look at the frame, the constuction of the packet holding the data, so why would what the packet is carrying matter?
4) packet shapers, shape... not drop packets, they might drop connection packets if they're told to, but we're talking about data packets as the connection can be made fine, it would shape it if the theory was true not drop it

That actually depends on what QoS device they are using. If the shaper is doing stateful packet inspection on Layer 7 of the stack, it will look at the contents of the frame. The newer devices like the Perebit stuff assign hash values to bit sequences within a frame. That is how they accomplish their "Impressive" compression. If the file has already been compressed, it sometimes gets itself into a not with the hash values. I have seen this problem before plenty of times on QoS Devices. The only way to fix it is to flush the cache on the device (both sides) and let it rebuild. I cant even begin to tell you how frustrating this is when trying to troubleshoot SAP R/3 connections over compression devices
