I installed one of these routers yesterday and I am having some issues. My connection just keeps dropping (never had this problem on the marconi router). Sometimes the connection will drop and reestablish and keep going but takes about 2 mins to reconnect. This is very noticable when i am at my computer. Sometimes the connection will drop and reestablish but i cannot send/recieve data. If i disconnect and try reconnect, the session doesnt drop. Since i have uncapped express it does not create a second session. I had to log into the IS user tracker via 3G to figure this out. First time round i called datapro and had them drop the session from there end, this time i switched off the router for 15 mins and then it finally dropped. Anyone seen this sort of problem before? Must i send this router back to sybaritic and get a different one ??

It could be because the line is shared with something else and doesnt have a filter on

hmm, all my points have filters on...

Also that would be the reason for the dropped connection, wouldn't be the reason for the session that can't send/receive. Picked up my friends old telkom router, gonna run on that and see what happens.

I have the same router and I updated the firmware to version 1.20 the other day.

I have had no issues with mine

Ok cool, will do a update later. Thanks guys, didn't think about that. close to 2 hours on this telkom router, no problems, so it has to be that dlink. Will post back once i get a chance to update firware :)

Downloaded this and tried to load it. I assume the default.cfg file is that image i must load? I get an error something about the image doesn't contain valid files, will check again now and get proper error. I checked my box, and the H/W Version is D1, so that is the right update.

This is what I see in the devlce info page:
Board ID: DSL-2540U
Software Version: RU_DSL-2540U_1.10_06102008
Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-8.7

Update: Seems like you are suppose to use the Kernel file, don't know why i didn't see that the first time. The update is running now, hopefully this sorts my problems. Thanks a lot w.m and dj_jyno

Another Update: Firmware updated and i am going through the DLINK again. Lets see if have issues again, looking at the bug fix list, looks like my problems might actually be fixed.

Ok, so happend again now. Connects a session but i cant actually send/receive data... Any more ideas? Updated the firmware already...

This keeps happening. Time to ask my ISP if they know why i am getting sessions with no data going through them ?

I would think so. Must be some problem with your line or on the ISP's side

Mailed the ISP. Never had an issue (or noticed any issues) with the old router, or with my buddies telkom router. Can't see how a router is at fault for creating a connection to the ISP and then no data coming through that connection. Becuase even in the dataless sessions, my router is assigned an IP address, just can't send/receive any data. Too weird. Let see if the ISP get back to me.

ISP say connection is active during those times.... Must be a router fault!
