Problems cancelling Telkom services

Okay spoke to friend who had same issue - so what he did is he called through to the cancellation centre (said had to hang on for a while), when he got through to the consultant, he spoke through his issue with cancelling and then asked for that agent's email address, he then emailed through his completed form to the agent and that email they said you need to send it to and the consultant then put him on hold for a while - came back and said it was cancelled.. and poof, no more bills?

Cancelled in August and still getting billed. For both Telkom line and FreeMe package. The Telkom line I simply refused to pay and phoned the call center this week and it seems now things are getting cancelled since they did receive the original form. For the FreeMe package, I simply closed down the bank account which the debit order was on.

Tried cancelling a LTE package this week. When I sent my cancellation form through to the cancellations email address, my message was rejected because the mailbox is full. :D
I phoned them to report the problem and to get an alternative email address to send it to.

They make it near impossible to cancel. They also make it impossible to change your package. Im on pre-paid following a completed contract and I have no easy way to adjust my package to a lower or higher month to month. If u know please enlighten me. And I dont have 35 mins to wait for a call centre to pickup and have no clue.

People, We have all been through this before. They have systems in place, but its as if its a drag to cancel contracts on their side. This has been going on for years. I'm not sure if HelloPeter still has all that old complaints. If MyBroadband wants to really show Telkom's incompetence they will post a list of Telkom Cancellation complaints from HelloPeter etc.

It took me about 10 months to cancel ADSL after taking Telkom LTE. At least 3times sending in cancellation forms, phone calls and many emails, all the time the debit order going through the bank account. Afraid to cancel debit order in case i finished up on some credit black list. Did eventually get about half of the overpayment refunded, couldn’t be bothered to try for more.
On changing to fibre with another ISP had to cancel LTE went much smoother, but don’t go into their retail offices they are useless. Still a credit on the LTE which they can’t seem to transfer to the normal telephony account.
Would love to go VOIP and totally get rid of telkom but have a telkom email address so that may cause complications. not sure if i can keep it as a stand alone monthly payment. I have a gmail address but the thought of transferring municipal accounts etc to new email address is quite traumatic.

Need to cancel my Telkom ADSL data line and keep voice number portion. Just spoke with 10212 and staff member says after Telkom data line migration from ISP back to Telkom there is no need to fill in a cancellation form. I can just call 10213 and say I no longer require the "ADSL line speed" and poof it is cancelled. Sounds unlikely.

hi ... i am also trying to cancel my landline. sent the form to the email. first the email box was full. now it went through. hoping i do not have too much of a hassle.

We cancelled our ADSL in February (by fax, one of the Telkom recommended channels), but they didn't cancel the service. We stopped paying after the month notice and they eventually terminated the service for 'non-payment' and handed us over for debt collection. We're currently refusing to pay since we have a confirmation of delivery of the fax. We'll see how far we get, but our story is not unique...

This is scary shyte, just changed my Telkom line to a more affordable package as I work mainly from home. The consultant said it would take about 30 minutes to activate.
I then sent a cancellation for the adsl line to [email protected] as I now have fibre.

I did receive an email asking me to complete a form which I then sent back to them. Acknowledgment was received. Just hope they don't cancel the phone line.

And I've also cancelled with the required 30 day notice period. Line no longer working and got SMS stating that ADSL canceled. Still got billed in advance for December. Have an escalation logged so hopefully that resolves it but not holding my breath.

I was country director for an international firm - the telkom account is still in my name. Myself and the new director went into the store in person - they didn't know how to fix it. It's been a year. In addition, I've since discovered they've mysteriously put my three personal cellphone contracts onto that business account... no doubt something that seemed convenient to one of their staff at the time.

I assisted a pensioner to get rid of her telkom fixed line - It took 9 months - I forwarded the documentation every three months with an admonishment that the request is overdue. This motivated me to get rid of my own fixed line account as well - it is the first month now...

Same here - first the emailbox was full - then it went through - I also faxed the documents just to make sure.

Moved from Sea Point to my current area, 3 years ago.
Asked Telkom to transfer the line. Said they couldn't, and would cancel the Sea Point Line, and sign us up with a new number in our area.

Been 3 years and am still paying the line rental of the Sea point line...
Been promised a hundred times that this would be sorted....

Just some friendly advice. I’ve been seriously affected by ignoring their bills. I cancelled my ADSL in November 2016. I then ignored all their statements up to April 2017 saying I owed them money. I then cancelled the debit order in May. Last week (November 2017) I applied for my discovery watch benefit and it got declined. I eventually found out that Telkom had listed me on Transunion for outstanding money I owe them even though I cancelled the account in November 2016. It’s been such a mission to get my name cleared after they admitted that they are at fault. They also don’t want to give me a letter saying that they made a mistake. They also said they just give an invoice saying my account is cleared which means that my credit profile is not cleared it still shows I was listed and affects my credit rating. The whole process to do the investigation and get the clearance statement takes about 30 days from Telkom side and then Transunions side.

I had, or am having (no idea which yet) the same problem. Sent the cancellations email address a message, automated message said I needed to fill out a form and send it to them, I did that, and then never heard another word about it. Got an SMS a while later saying they were sad I was no longer going to be an ADSL client, then a few days later sent me an invoice for the following month showing the things I had just cancelled. I ignored it (they say if you have paid to ignore it, I had cancelled, so I ignored it), and then got another one sent the following month saying I was in arrears.

I sent the cancellations email address a follow up email saying I had requested a cancellation 2 months prior, and they better sort it out and close the account after clearing any amount showing as in arrears. Still haven't heard anything from them.

Thats what lawyers are for.

It took about 2 and a half months for them to cancel my Telkom adsl data. AFter 2 months I just stopped using their data and they refunded me for the other portion after I had emailed them twice and then complained on Facebook. Facebook always seems to do to the trick for me... I get action from them that way.

I have an ongoing problem as well. A wrong product wss returned to them and they still debit my accouy every month! I have a complaint with ICASA, but nevertheless the debit order went off today after they said that the complaint will be handled soon. This has now been going on since July!
