Problems cancelling Telkom services

The problem is as follows:
1. the System they are using is not always quic and efficient for the staff to use.
2. The staff sometimes are too lazy to go onto the system and make the changes required - especially half an hour before closing time - eish system "off line" ?? - or too lazy to update system as it is end of day...
3. Incompetence from some members of staff - bad work ethic.
In this day and age if you go into a store, sign some papaerwork with your id and then make sure that the operators go on-line to cancel the contract - and wait until you get confirmation that the contract has indeed been cancelled. Otherwise what is the point of having on-line systems. This is why you have on-line systems - to process requests immediateltly - without getting paperwork signed, posted off and approved and back again.

May i also suggest that before signing up for a service, sign up with a provider in the beginiing that has a goob work ethic and will potetntially no give you any hassles when cancelling.
Telkom = government = corruption = high legal costs ......

“Each cancellation request is received and reviewed based on the particulars of the contract conditions agreed to by Telkom and its customers – and therefore each cancellation is processed on its individual merit,” said Telkom.

What complete bull****. The contracts are the same.

From my experience, it is impossible to actually talk to the cancellation department. I am told by the accounts people that cancellations do not have lines? All we can do is ask them to phone us? Strangely they have lines that they can phone out from. I asked the call centre if I was talking to Telkom, the same Telkom that provides phone lines for millions but can't provide one of their own departments. I guess it is one way to delay things for a month or 6 while they carry on billing you. Hopefully no more bills after this one?? It is a pleasure to be on fibre and VOIP (with ported Telkom number)!

Cancelled beginning Sep 2017. After the first month of receiving another bill, managed to get hold of a (very helpful) guy at Telkom. Submitted docs, and requested backdate of cancellation to when I actually cancelled. Ignored it since.

Checked again just now.

Been trying to cancel since September 4th. Refuse to pay the latest invoice after cancelling via email multiple times + using their online control panel. Ridiculous.

Dear Telkom - the people that still have fixed lines are probably the more affluent part of society. If you service them promptly - even with cancellation of their fixed lines (a declining division) - chances are very good that they will subscribe to your other growing services like data, cellphones etc. If you treat them with contempt when trying to cancel - you will never see them again ...

Cool, so they initially kept on charging you for a cancelled line but then you didn't pay them?

My line has been cancelled effective today, so will wait to see what the next invoice shows early next month when they send it.

Yes, just keep copies of everything showing when you've cancelled.

So i think i have a different problem to yours. First week of April they sent me an 'Invoice for April' for R580 due by the end of April, which I paid in full. The full service was cancelled on 21 April, line dead, etc...

Now beginning of May they sent me another 'Invoice for April' with 'Notification Fees' that add up to R925 in addition to the previous R580 I paid them for April! What gives?

Not sure what that's for. The second statement I received also had weird amounts, which I disputed and showed that I paid for my last month. They then cleared everything.

Nothing brought tears of joy like when I received my invoice after battling Telkom and then fighting NuDebt debt collectors collecting the debt for Telkom after I refused to pay and the kept running the billing for 4 months or so.....

What's the best way to dispute the charges? Call them? Or maybe TelkomZA here on MyBB?
