Project to cut telecoms costs

This is starting to feel like the buildup to the noeflex launch .. ANOTHER disappointment looms ... dont know if I can handle another one .... :(

Sounds to me like everyone is just hedging their bets and insuring themselves. This talk is just so that they can say afterwards "but we never promised you a drop in prices". In my opinion prices will HAVE to drop. Seacom and it's partners cannot afford to come into the market at the same price as Telkom, and providers also cannot continue to offer current packages at the same prices or there will be NO movement in the market.

Relax guys, you are going to see nicer caps and some downward movement in prices. Slow or fast, things will start moving. There is now a colossal weight bearing down on the price movement and the consumers themselves will demand this movement in the market. Otherwise things will stagnate and even start to decline for the providers, and they can't afford that... not in this economy.
 
The first 6 months after Seacom is going to be very hard on us as consumers. I expect you will want to change your ISP every second day as prices come down and better deals keep popping up everywhere.

don't worry folks all we have to collectively do is actively boycott their services so they can have their brand new fiber optic cables and no one to rip off..

Than you will see prices go down....

It goes like this ... if we are willing to pay so much why wouldn't they charge as much as we willing to pay...

Haha ! Nice try. I boycott Telkom and I actively tell people to do the same but all of the people here love their copper and mythical low latencies to much to give a damn about consumer power.

Please tell me where I can exercise the hypothetical consumer powers I have, no offence but there is just nowhere I can go other then telkom.

Neotel has no signal in my area and I live in Kempton Park, not in the bundu somewhere, and their atitude towards their consumers are nothing to be joyful about, they still will not commit to dates of signal roll-outs, nor do they ever have any info on that. and even if there were signal I'd not go to neotel, they are not really that much cheaper.

MTN/VODACOM is also very expensive, in fact more expensive then telkom. and they are so much more anti-competitive.

Simply put, We as consumers cannot choose "not to be screwed" thats not an option, we can only choose who gets to screw us, :mad:

I am with Amobia and it is very good alternative to telkom. 9c/MB is a bit high but at least I am not a Telkom customer.

Getting everyone to buy in to a more affordable undersea cable and then make billions off their unsuspecting clients? = priceless
 
Currently wholesale prices on bandwidth are between 4.5c and 6.5c per MB for shaped. This needs to come down to at least 1c and 2c per MB!!!

The WUG's latencies aren't that bad. In game time 8pm to 1am, latencies are between 1ms to ~30ms. Perfect for Teamspeak and the games they play.
