Graeme Smith (Nashua Cape Cobras, capt)
Jacques Kallis (Chevrolet Warriors)
AB de Villiers (Nashua Titans)
JP Duminy (Nashua Cape Cobras)
Albie Morkel (Nashua Titans)
Mark Boucher (Chevrolet Warriors)

Not sure how that is not a strong enough batting lineup when measured against Aus, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, well actually every country.... IIRC us and Aus are the only two countries where nr1-4 batsmen avg 40+.

Also roelf and botha are far from tail enders....

See the problem wasnt our batsmen really it was our terrible bowling.

That line up is not balanced, you cant only play 4 proper batsman & 6 bowlers + Kallis & JP

Amla will probably play instead of Langevelt

I would be tempted to drop Morkel though, he is a bowler who plays as a late order impact batsman. Yes he is effective as a batsman but his bowling is terrible and he rarely bowls more then 4 or 5 overs (or 2 in a 20/20)

I would make up our bowling with Steyn, Parnell, Botha, Roelof & JP/Kallis
Then they need to choose whether to play Morkel as a batsman or not, I'd rather play a batsman (who i dont know though, maybe given Peterson a run opening)

Morkel is better than a late order hitter and has shown it time and again for the titans. There's a reason he averages 40 in first class cricket. The problem is they never give him time to get in before he has to hit. He needs to bat in the top 6 like the aussies employed symonds when he was at his best.

Morkel is a batting allrounder imho not a bowling allrounder as the national selectors like to use him. McClaren is the bowling allrounder.

Steven Cook scored 390 (New SA record) as an opener this weekend, he might get a look in as a test opener if he carries on like that.

Prince was batting at #4 (he opened last time because of Duminy) , so wondering how our Test top 6 will look.

I'll stick prince in at opener again. He is good at it.

My test side
Smith
Prince
Amla
Kallis
AB
Duminey
Boucher
Steyn
Harris
Parnell
M Morkel / <can not think of any other test bowler atm that could take wickets constantly>

A 5 day world cup would be rather interesting i reckon :D.

Any reasons apart from length this has not been done? I guess the amount of draws make if pretty impossible or what?

lmao you clown!! imagine a group stage, then a super eight group stage!!! that WC will last a few months

there was a 10day test match iirc, was still a draw cause the english teams ship was leaving lmao

I think the 2007 ODI WC in the Windies lasted about 6 months.

I would go for tsotsobe ahead of parnel. Parnel hasn't shown he can do it at first class level yet. He has to show he can do it at that level before he gets the test call imho. Rest I agree with.

If they were going to do that he'd be opening for his 1st class side.
Another option is to let AB open, which he said he wouldn't do.

Then there's Neil Mac, who can open as well.
Not sure if they'll pick him.
They'll still pick Ntini over Parnell for the tests I think.

Yes forcing the aussies to their knees, single handedly at centurion showed he needs more 1st class XP ... :p:D

Prince should open. Ps we do not always play the guys where the proteas will play them. Only sometimes.

Also Ab should not be opening. He is a tad testy against the new ball.

Who will you drop for mac to come in?

I agree with your top 6 btw...
But I dunno what the selectors are going to do, it'll be interesting.

That was odi cricket. I like parnell and seeing as he is more than a decent bat he would strengthen the tail quite a bit. But his bowling at first class level isn't up to it yet. I don't think he has quite worked out how to plan a dismissal.

He only played 2 first class games IIRC.

The selectors pulled him up directly from the under 19 (?) team after he captained them to the finals of the WC (I might be mistaken but im pretty sure).

Eastern Province
Parnell made his first-class debut for Eastern Province in October 2006, at the age of seventeen, against South Western Districts scoring 17 and taking one wicket. In his second first-class match, he recorded figures of four for seven,[1] and, in only his fifth first-class match, he took a hat-trick against Western Province:[2] all three batsman were bowled.

Kent
At the start of the 2009 season Parnell was signed as an overseas player by Kent on a six week contract, serving as a replacement for Stuart Clark.[3] On his county debut against Essex he took 4/78 in the first innings and top scored with 69 in the second, his maiden first-class fifty the innings contained 11 boundaries. Despite following on Kent won the match, with Parnell claiming three further wickets.[4] In Kent's next first-class match, against Glamorgan he bettered his maiden fifty with an innings of 90, again top scoring from number eight.[5] Parnell left Kent to join up with South Africa ahead of the World Twenty20, but after the tournament he returned for a further five weeks.[6] Opening the bowling in Kent's successful defence of 149 runs against Durham in the Twenty20 Cup quarter-final, Parnell dismissed opening batsmen Phil Mustard for a golden duck from the first delivery of the Dynamos' run chase and David Warner in the second over of his spell, also for a duck.[7] Though returning to South Africa after his second spell ends, Parnell has been cleared by Cricket South Africa to return to Kent and feature for the Spitfires on finals day of the competition.[8]

Not to bad a performance in first class imo. actually bloody brilliant if you ask me.
