Parnell's swinging action will make him a big wicket taker, but he will go for a lot of runs too imho, its kinda hard to put him in a test match,

I agree that its not bad for his age but he isn't quite ready for test cricket. I wouldn't pick ntini but I would tsotsobe ahead of parnell for now.

The thing is Parnell is the youngest player ever to get a contract from SA Cricket.

He will be playing in the test matches sooner rather than later, I say stick him in there against Zim / Kenia.... a Test that doesn't matter. Ntini has a year or two left if that much, there are guys like M Morkel / Parnell / Tsotsobe knocking on the door very very hard.

As for picking Tsotsobe over parnell, I would not. Parnell bowls at 140km/h and swings the ball... tsotsobe bowls at 120-130km/h. Yes speed is not everything but if you can pick a bowler thats 10-20km/h faster on average why not.

Ps in test cricket ill take a wicket taker over a run restricter.... thats what kallis and harris and someone like duminy is there for. Steyn /morkel / ntini / parnell would be strike type bowlers.

Wasn't Paul Adams the youngest?

They fleeced him out of a contract then. He was 18 when he played his 1st test.
Only 32 years old now, and retired.

Playing in a test does not mean you get a contract. For a clever guy you are doing stupid very well :p:D

He played in the whole series against England and subsequent tests.

It wasn't a once off, he even played a few ODI's.

The guy was robbed.

He got a contract from Spur at least.

Tsotsobe takes more wickets at first class level at the moment. The only time he got to play for SA so far he took a fiver vs aus in the odi.

1) he only took 4 wickets.

2) you stated you feel parnell is fine for ODI but tha he needs to mature a bit before he can play tests. Now you say Tsostobe can play tests but he has even less xp at intern level. I don't understand.

Ps I really think Tsostobe is a good bowler and that he should be included before Langeveld. We are building for the future after all.

He has a much better first class record. 148 wickets at 22.06 in 39 games. He knows what it takes to get batsmen out in first class level and is imho at this stage a better bowler in the longer forms of the game then parnell. He has more longer format experience than parnel.

See I think you might be mistaken here as well.

Do you know if parnell played 4day / 5day matches for SA un19 and SA under 21?

If so do you think that his xp in international cricket is worth less than tsotsobe's first class xp?

Apples and pears my friend ;)

Well how does one get international experience in 5 day cricket WITHOUT PLAYING GAMES? :D

:D

What would you rather have a guy that played international cricket all his life (from junior to u/21 level) or a guy that played 1 or two seasons of first class cricket?

Just my opinion but I would take the one with the international experience.

Tsotsobe, Parnell, Steyn and Harris are going to be our bowling attack soon.
So no need to argue. :)

Ntini will be history and Morkel is actually crap.
