AWESOME :D :D :D so glad for these guys.....

WHY ON EARTH NO ASHWELL PRINCE !?!?!?!?! WTF must this guy do? perhaps he will open in the tests again [made 160+- last time he opened against AUS IIRC]

Gibbs and Ntini will have to prove themselves [which im pretty sure they will]

Prince should not play ODI, and he should sure as hell not play 20/20.

But inthe test sqaud I believe he should be a permanent fixture. Prefer. at opening with Smith.

Ntini is over the wall now and the biggest problem is him not having variation, and not being able to bowl 145-150 anymore that is a problem.

nah, they must kick him out the team. He performs 1 every 5 games.
Yes when he does perform its amazing but still, inconsistency < winning games

Yea and who in our team performs every game? What games do we win? What comps do win? None. We did not even make it out the group stages in the last comp. So why does gibbs get the boot and not the other players who all failed badly?

Please gibbs performs about as well as anyone else in our team. Look at jayasuria at 40 he is still playing, why?

Sadly i could agree if we had people who perform every game but we do not.

Jacques Kallis will be used as an opening batsman in the forthcoming one-day internationals against Zimbabwe and England, according to the convenor of selectors for the South...

interesting....

He looked promissing when he opened in the pro20s and in that one ODI. Also that allows everyone to move one down and thus we might finally see Albie Morkel get some much needed time in the middle.

Makes sense. Kallis is slow in ODI, so opening up :)D) will hopefully increase his strike rate.

Ntini will be replaced by Lonwabo Tsotsobe
http://www.cricinfo.com/southafrica/content/player/47666.html
Profile
A tall medium-pace swing bowler, Tsotsobe is a promising left-armer. He made an immediate impression in his first season for Eastern Province, taking 16 wickets at 17.75 in the 2004-05 season. However, it wasn't until he moved to Warriors in 2006-07 that his obvious ability bore fruition. Three five-wicket hauls and his first ten-for in a match were followed by 49 wickets at 23.59 the next year. There were concerns, however, that his fitness and stamina would prevent international recognition, and in addition his pace; a medium-pacer, he is certainly not in the Brett Shultz league. Nevertheless, another encouraging start to his 2008-09 season (28 wickets in six matches) earned him a call-up to South Africa's squad to tour Australia. He impressed in his debut ODI, taking 4 for 50 and that was good enough to earn him a central contract.

He was scoring at more than a runa ball IIRC for 4 games while opening ;)

His strike rate is fine. Plus with smith ab duminey(on form at the moment) morkel there he can score at a run a ball and be the anker man :D

I don't know if amla can keep up with the pace of todays ODI. We can only afford one slowish batsmen in the team, and that is unfortunately a stigma that says kallis is filling it.

Ps who would you drop from my team above to make space for amla?

That line up is not balanced, you cant only play 4 proper batsman & 6 bowlers + Kallis & JP

Amla will probably play instead of Langevelt

I would be tempted to drop Morkel though, he is a bowler who plays as a late order impact batsman. Yes he is effective as a batsman but his bowling is terrible and he rarely bowls more then 4 or 5 overs (or 2 in a 20/20)

I would make up our bowling with Steyn, Parnell, Botha, Roelof & JP/Kallis
Then they need to choose whether to play Morkel as a batsman or not, I'd rather play a batsman (who i dont know though, maybe given Peterson a run opening)
