I recently got a PS2 and some games and my daughter and i quite enjoy it but what all can it do?
The PS2 console is chipped so we can play copied games but some of them don't wanna work but thats ok as there are others that do work.

Why does it have USB ports and it says it has an 8mb memory card in it so can you upgrade that or what.

Sorry for the stupid questions but this is the first time i had a Playstation of any kind.

Not a Playstation guy myself but the memory card is just storage memory for your saved games and content. Yes i suppose you can upgrade it but why? USB ports? mmm As i said not a Playstation guy but i think you can plug a usb keyboard in there also usb headsets not much else i suppose, maybe a flashdrive for storing saved games if its chipped to allow that.

oh ok thanks man. i tried looking on the forum but it's mainly PS3 and those new consoles.

Well. Singstar comes with usb mikes, Thats a good buy, Also buzz comes with usb paddles, also very cool.
You can also get the eyetoy. Its a camera that recognizes your movements, You play games by moving your body. Its cool also.

You could also plug a keyboard in if you want, but you cant really play games with it, its only for inputting text.

The memory card is only for saved games. I think you can get ones up to like 64 meg or something.

nice, almost like a WII or something.

my daughter is playing Sims and i am playing God Of War and Call of Duty which are cool.

I think you can hook it up with your router and browse the internet with it (i might be wrong),because i see a LAN cable can be pluged into it.

You know what? I have GOW 2 for the ps2 lying around. send me your p.o. box and I'll mail it to you :D

i saw that but knowing my luck i will mess it up if i stick a cable into it. how much gigs will it take if you use it online? i cannot google that cause i am capped at the moment.

serious??? i am already stuck in the first one.

For sure, and any others I can find. How old is your daughter, I think I also have Noddy somewhere.

You can browse with it, but its not a great experience. My advice is : Don't bother.
The cable was supposed to be for online gaming, but afaik it never really took off.

ha ha ha ok i was just wondering because they have all these holes and i wondered what they do and also when i put a copied disc in it says "browser".

my daughter is 13 and plays Sims and Ratchet and Clank and can even fish with the Pro Fishing game and i cannot even caste a damn line.

You can also install a version of Linux on the ps2.
Im not sure if the slim ps2 has a version but i would also like to point out that emulators are possible on the ps2 as well.

ok so i believe Linux is an operating system or something, right?

what the hell is an emulator and what do you do with it? (off to google now).

*how the frik do you shoot people in Band of Brothers when you have a junk rifle?*

lol I think I have a Super nintendo emulator for the PS2 somewhere :p Basically an emulator emulates different old school consoles and I think the PS2 had quite a few. Hell it even has MAME emulator I think and MAME has a k@k load of arcade games :D

i have a mame disc here somewhere so if i put the disc in will it work?

Read this PS2 MAME Emulator guide. You said you PS2 is chipped so all you need is a a blank 4.7GB DVD disc must be at least a 4x speed disc though. Then just follow the intructions from that tutorial or google for another :)

EDIT: Oops seems you can use a normal blank CD sorry :p

The PS2 is one of the best consoles ever made it has a huge library of games so I think you and your daughter will have plenty fun :)

aah cool buddy i will look at it now and i do have discs so ya thats sorted.

bubble bobble is also a cool game. i like the shooting games and my wife loves either Hidden Object games (i don't think you get those on PS2) and also the detective games like CSI and Law and Order and my daughter likes Sims and thoses others that you must look for things like Ratchett and Clank and similiar but she has also like those racing games and i got a few of those with the console like need for speed etc but for me thats boring.

the one i wanted to play was Area 51 but it did not work.

Hidden object games? Sounds like my mother lol I suggest for your wife go to www.reflexive.com and check out the games there. Yes you need to pay to unlock them but there is a way around that. I'll PM you how if you want. :) Oh and Area 51 on the PC was alright nothing special so you didn't miss out :p

I remeber playing bubble bobble down at the cafe, ***** stole all my money :D
