PS3 Hardware Cost

Network oriented > Monolithic bathtub.

I know many people with multiple 360's in their homes. Lounge, bedrooms, study etc etc, with all media stored on a central PC, and at R1800 each, it's a cheap way of spreading your media to all the devices/TV's/HiFi's in the house.

I know no one who'd ever even consider buying two PS3's.

I agree fully. Only ONE PS3 is enough

to do all those things and more. ALL in one. No need for more PS3's I will just buy a Xbox to act as client for the advanced PS3 Media Server. :D

Think, Small drive, No fidelity etc. But at least good enough for the kids bedroom or even the kitchen, maybe even the toilet? Mmmm.

How many of those households can play BD DVD's. How many of them even have a Home theatre. A watered down second class media centre. Pfft. No Thanks.

methinks we need someone to start modding this section ....... this fanboi kark is getting to be waaay too inane and at times bordering on personal.

Now that’s a lot of uninformed fanboi Xbot babble. Very well put by a Fanboi Xbot that just claimed he do not have the time or rather the will to read the so called links where the uninformed "opinions" is proven to be factual. Very rich.

Many posters stated here that the PS3 and the Xbox is on par with gaming with the BotBox having a slight but temporary lead with some ported games regards to pixels and frame rates. Then it can do all the other things you so wish to ignore and at the same time wish the XBotBox could do, gathering information from old Bots posts.

What the bots want
Aspire a BD player for the BotBox
Play proper HD content and DVD's I'll just buy a cheap BD player, thank you - the BD hardware on the PS3 is becoming so outdated its going to be a big problem in the future. PS3 fanbois seem to be at a loss to explain this.
Have decent sound What problem would you be referring to.
Act as proper media device This is your opinion, and absolutely not true
Then there is the point of running codec’s natively (hardware) Why would this be a problem?
Hard drive size, easy DIY upgrade. Clip in, clip out, am I missing your point? No, I am not - you don't have one
Memory Seriously wtf?

Also
Have the Looks of a media device (Xbox = Impossible. That fugly white thing) You mean a fugbly black monolithic bathtub? No thanks.
The noise (Sounds like a jet engine) LOL Yeah, cos that always bothers me during gunfire
Can run Linux natively (another life for the PS3 when upgrading to PS4) Get a PC you daft idiot
Can be updated with firmware to new standards (Like DTS HD master sound)
Lifespan of 10 Years overlapping with the PS4.No, because the PS3 DOES NOT have a 10 year life span despite what Sony tells you - but good luck with that
Have the capacity to develop and improve for many more years The PS3 is ALREADY stagnating with archaic hardware, please expand
BD Live
PSN ID
Free online Not with the amount of k*k that comes with it.

Let’s look at old Bot arguments
Who needs a bigger drive? 2TB on my PC should be sufficient
Who needs a BD PLAYER? The Samsung BD player should be sufficient
Who needs a Media center? I have one
Who needs more memory? Again dude, wtf?
We only need a games console NOTHING more But you don't really have one, does that upset you?
The PS3 is overpriced (Including with BD drive) YET to get the Xbox to act to some degree or level of improved standards, that the PS3 do all in one inherently, you need to purchase additionally all the extras making it then more expensive than the PS3. Overpriced, underpowered with archaic hardware. But you believe Sony's justifications, if you must.

The ‘tardy comment to suss the mind is then always “At least we had a choice.”
I agree. You had choices and chose the cheapest. But for only a games console at least, for now, we agree. You made the best choice then. In future, we will see. Only time will tell.

Please try again next time WHEN YOU ACTUALLY OWN A CONSOLE!

Does anyone want to explain this? You Sony fanbois keep skirting around this issue.

Fnuck you realise no one is actually going to read that much drivel, they're just going to point and laugh at you for wasting your time ...

*blush*

I read it, but I'm procrastinating about writing an import script. Ones as bad as the other, I guess :/

more and more I'm getting disgusted by the threads in here.
I mean really now is it so hard to have a conversation without trolling.
Fanboi wars are really starting to get to me it's making me sick!
Who do we report to clean up threads?
Leave Fanboyism for the PS3/Xbox360 thread

it's not the fanboi-ism itself ..... but the inanity of some of it ;)

Then why keep asking the same question?

Besides, no one asked you to read it all. Go and play with your SNES and leave the adults to talk, okay?

Yes. I agree

We can do with some extra forum rules but then there will be FEW Xbots on this forum as it will curtail some of them who use this type of Modus Operandi to make their point stick, chasing away other prospective posters or even members.

Extracted from another forum I frequent

(1) Absolutely NO FLAMING, HATE SPEECH, NAME CALLING OR PERSONAL ATTACKS. Mutual respect and civilized conversation is the required norm.

(2) No BASHING allowed, except in the special Smackdown forums , which has its own set of additional rules.'

(26)*NEW* No more 'Baiting':
All members are free to express their opinion on these boards, and others have a right to disagree. The line is crossed when one member insults another member (intentionally or unintentionally) by posting things like "that post is garbage"... or "what the hell were you thinking".

If you disagree with another person's post, refute it with facts. If you don't like the way they type up their thoughts, don't read them.

We are making a change to the way that we handle this issue. Now, not only will members who post directed attacks (any post directed at a person, or group) receive an infraction, so will members who are intentionally baiting them. These 'baiters' are not providing anything to the forums, and are just causing problems.

Breaking any of the above listed forum rules can result in the loss of posting privileges and possible loss of your forum account. MyBB also reserves the right to ban any user, at any time, and for any reason.

Maybe you should start listening to yourself? Apparently what's good for the goose isn't what's good for the gander.

To answer the OP.

(this will sound biased)

Get an Xbox360. You want a console for social gaming, the xbox has the better range of gaming social titles... 1 example, and if you've seen it you'll agree: Castle Crashers. Simple, Addictive, Fun gaming at its best

You say you want a console for Fighting titles, the Xbox has DOA, SC4, Tekken 6 (when its released), otherwise theres Facebreaker (very lighthearted comical version of Fight Night), and thats only naming the titles off the top of my head.

I do agree with a few of the fanboi posts, the PS3's hardware is getting old... and its BD is more of a downside in terms of gaming (who wants to install games on a console). The PS3 is more of a showoff, with superior graphics (in certain games) and a BD player. When it comes the community and social gaming, the Xbox excels ahead. At least thats my (somewhat biased) opinion.

 ........ I'm talking about INANE posts ....... BS for the sake of BS ..... and don't kid yourself about prospective members being chased away by what you call Xbots ........

Utter Bull
Which BD player on the market can do DTS Master HD Audio and is equiped with 1.3a HDMI. The PS3 and at a good price for it. The PS3 firmware can and is updated on a regular basis.

The Xbots skip around my question. That is: What do you want to do with the cheap BD player, How will it be structured for use on your system. What is the end result you want to achieve. Apart from a massive storage device the Xbox can do nothing with it as well as a PC. There is still too many issues to consider for a BD HTPC device.

BTW For information The PS3 have it all already. And it works.

I suggest that any other posts of 360 vs ps3 in ANY form or function be moved to the PS3/Xbox360 thread where they belong.

That includes any BD discussions that are not topical to this thread in regards to the poster's questions.

Refer to my post above and either make your own BD thread - somewhere in the multimedia section, where it belongs - or the PS3/Xbox360 thread.
If you however move it to the PS3/360 thread, dont expect sympathy if yo get ripped a new one.

Tim :D
Just move it to the PS3/360 thread so that he can't moan about being ripped a new one. :p
While he is posting here off-topic posts he can be reported as trolling. ;)
