Hi guys, I am currently playing Tekken 5, and Street Fighter IV online on my PS3 on a shaped 2mb ADSL line (4mb keeps disconnecting, so they dropped the line speed)

Is there anything I can do to increase the online ping/speed as I get frequent lag while playing, or sloppy response rates.

which ISP are you using?

Best suggestion is to try a different ISP

I am currently using webonline as my ISP. What I get on console is basically the same latency as one would get from trying to connect to an overseas COD4 server, or CSS server, wich is mostly the people I play against in Tekken 5, or SF IV.

guess you connecting to international servers then... have you ruled out firewall re-routing of packets?

what about wireless signal (if you using wireless)?

isnt the problem that you're connecting to international servers? Thought latency will always be an issue although unshaped accounts help.

I'm using a normal ethernet connection, not wireless, and it's through the PS3, so I don't think Firewalls apply, but should unshaped inprove the speed?

Even on unshaped its barely playable, your best bet would be to find local players and share tags, or move overseas.

Look, it's playable, but has about a 2 second delay, and that in a fast paced fighting game is a bit bad, since you need to time moves precisely, would moving from shaped to unshaped help at all with that 2second delay?

Look bud, you can play on a perfect 4meg line and the international games will lag, I've been playing COD4 on the ps3 for quite a while on my 384 line, international is basically ridiculous, but local it's pretty even, I still get more kills then deaths when you play local players... Best bet is to check the ps3za site for local players to play against

Ya, thanks man, I just checked out the site, lets hope they have some people playing any of these two games, because the single player is only so limited, online play never really gets old, thanks for the help. If you want to add me, my nick is Arcanecynic

If you are going to play cod4 rather get local bandwidth and play on PC with SAIX, it gets very expensive, fast, when you play via int.

Oh, I've been playing COD4 on Saix since it's release, ingame name is CryptoX aswell, or Cyanide_Suicide.

What he said...

You will always lag it isnt the size of the pipe i.e. 4MBps vs 1MBps.
But the latency which is a result of the repeaters , routers and switches that
your connection has to pass through. There is just that many more to make a connection with your international players.

Your best bet is to find local players especially with fast paced games like COD.
