Get both 
TBH, I went with the PS4 first (only have it 4 months now) because of PS+ and there where more games I wanted to play on it.
I'm still getting a Xbone this year for the exclusives they have.
So I'm in the get both boat, play exclusives on both and get the multiform game on which one is the cheapest.

Correct, the novelty does wear off. Even kids get over it after a month or two.
