PS4 vs Xbox One

Ignoring Chevron from here.
@OP Mike made the most sensible posts. Having both consoles I completely agree with him.

Difference is negligible. You won't tell the difference in graphics. Xlive has better value but more people and probably your friends have a PlayStation.

Xbox controller is better IMO but having to buy a new controller to be able to use a normal headset is annoying.

I prefer Xbone but to each their own.

You don't have to buy another controller just an adapter. Strangely enough only two of my friends have a PS4 everyone else has a Bone.
I looked at the PS4 but honestly I hardly played my ps3. Also the bone is better value for money because of the live games and the digital games are cheaper.
So even if the PS4 was a few hundred bucks cheaper the first game purchase negates that.

True. Got my adaptor when I bought the Turtle Beach XO Fours

R700 a year for a lot of Indie games, R490 for quite a few top tier games.

The X1 store is really schit though it has to be said. There's no sorting or filtering allowing you to browse by price, genre etc. They just assume that you know what you want and force you to use that crappy Bing search. If you want to browse then you have to go through the entire catalogue which isn't even sorted alphabetically.

This is something that even the 360 had and I can't believe they're being so stubborn about it...

Agreed it is horrible :( not sure what they were thinking. Even the 360 one has changed for the worst. The Sony store is nicely organised

Am I the only one that hates the compulsory fee for PS+ and XBL? As far as I'm concerned both MS and Sony can shove their "free" games that get locked if your subscription lapses. I see it as just another "fee" for online console gaming. I don't know what you guys are talking about when you say Xbox Gold is great. This is the list of free games on the XBOne so far:

Halo: Spartan Assault
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
Crimson Dragon
Strike Suit Zero
Super Time Force
Chariot
Völgarr the Viking
Worms Battlegrounds
D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die
#IDARB (It Draws a Red Box)
Pool Nation FX
Child of Light
CastleStorm: Definitive Edition
Massive Chalice
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
So Many Me
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition
The Deer God
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season

What BS, I wouldn't play 95% of that crap. Tomb Raider and Black Flag came out when? Nope I'd rather they did away with this nonsense. Their subscription fee is ~1 game I can pick myself. I'd rather have that.

I only have online versions of the games probably that's why nothing to sell second hand

We've been paying for xbox live since forever to play online, the PSN was free till ps + came out.
Yes we should be able to play games online without paying a yearly fee but I say that in the same breath as I should have Adsl without a phone line.

So who pays for the servers that we play multiplayer games on?

Me too. I currently 64 digital games and 2 physical XB1 games. Bought BF4 and Forza 5 came with the console.
Also have +120 xb360 digital games. Hopefully most will be backward compatible. Stopped buying physical games in 2013.

I never minded paying for XBL in the old days even before they introduced the free games, simply because I was paying for a quality experience. Downtime was almost non-existent, whereas it was a frequent occurrence on PS+.

Or stream live sport on supersport.com without needing an active pvr.;)

You must be joking. Either the developer or allow people/players to host third-party servers like always (still the status-quo for PC gaming).

Really? Mmo's (before the f2p model got popular) required a monthly sub.

Yes and FPSs? Fighting Games? Sports games? Other genres? You can play the majority of PC games with online multiplayer for free. Paying for a Wow subscription only impacts WoW players, that fee isn't foisted on everyone else.

Not really.

How will combining windows on PC and XBone benefit them?

Already most of the XBone games out on PC. I just don't see the value in it. And I have a 360. I just got it 3 years after my PS to catch up on exclusives.

And now there's this:
http://wccftech.com/xbox-boss-xbox-360-games-working-pc/

Even less reason to get a XBone if it ends up happening.

I still stand by my opinion that the only reason the 360 was popular in ZA was because it was cheaper and easier to pirate than PS3.

Now the PS4 is cheaper there's even less reason to even an XBone. All the weird Japanese type games are on PS3/4, and all the western type games are on PC.

You're missing a few scenarios, for example, i got a cheap Windows 10 Tablet (you buy them at Makro for like R3k) . Guess what i can do with that and a Xbox One ? I can play serious , and i mean Witcher 3 / GTA:V type of games on this tablet while someone else is watching TV .

Likewise, i can project my tablet/laptop screen to my TV without chromecast or any other "Apple TV" dongle thingies...just tablet + wifi and Xbox One.

Obviously if you got a hardcore gaming PC, then having consoles would seem a bit redundant, but if you are stuck with an average laptop or a tablet as your "PC" , different story....and that is where i think Windows 10 integration starts to make a big difference. How many average families buy desktops for their houses these days anyway? How many buy laptops and tablets instead? I bet alot .

They're both very good games still, if an individual has not played them before then bonus to them. I'm playing them on & off at the moment. The rest of the stuff looks like crap though.
