PlayStation still has way more brand equity in SA than Xbox, but hopefully that will change. Series X - as things stand - presents a substantially better value proposition for most people compared to PS5. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is outrageously good value, and Microsoft has local Azure servers in SA.

What, because you can get hundreds of mediocre games, that you will never play, for free?

Bleh.

Horizon: Zero Dawn however, man that was an experience. Easily my favourite game on the platform. And all these years later, it's finally coming to PC. Can't wait to play it again properly.

Properly? So you mean it will be better on PC than a console? hahaha.

Anyway, there's a reason Sony has allowed it onto PC....

One word.
One word. God of war.

While I’ve had both consoles this generation I can honestly say while it’s a good game as well as numerous others it’s in reality not all that.

You wouldn’t have died if you missed it and you’d certainly have had a pretty bad value proposition.

Definitely an ebucks purchase for me this time around. Or even better one console bought between a few friends and pimped around.

Why must you always bring negative value to every thread you enter?

We've been down this road before. You clearly know nothing about Xbox Game Pass. Go Google for the list of games - it's publicly available. There are a huge load of amazing games, and the value to families is massive on top of that.

There's no debate that it will be better on PC. Even back in 2017 I was lamenting the lack of a PC version.

Substantually better visuals, over twice the framerate and free mouse movement in an open world game are going to make it so much better.

So you can express your opinion about what you prefer, but yet when I do, and why, it's negative value? :)

Anyway, I thought you had me on ignore?

I have an Xbox one X. Don't care to use it. I have a very decent PC; don't care to use Steam sales. Why? As you say, we've been down this road before. Hundreds of games available to one does not mean you can play them all.

Quality over quantity dude.

There is every debate as to whether it will be better. Or are you saying there has never been "lamenting" over console ports to PC?

And just because you said something back in 2017, does not make it fact. Jeez, the god-complex here...

Unfortunately the ignore feature doesn't work well on Tapatalk.

If Xbox Game Pass Ultimate included nothing but mediocre games, it would not have the legendary reputation that it has. It is objectively an amazing value for 99% of gamers. You'd have to be next level hardcore for all its games to be old hat and to also have no family who can benefit from the wide variety of options available. And we've had this discussion - rather than continue with your false ideas it would be nice if you updated them and contributed more value in subsequent similar discussions.

All games go on sale at some point. Saying that Steam sales are comprised of junk is a nonsensical statement too.

A god complex isn't required to believe that over twice the framerate, substantially better visual fidelity and flexible control options make for a better gaming experience. Just a sane, rational mind.

It's legendary amongst xbox gamers dude. Still, this legendary aspect didn't stop the PS4 outselling the xbox at least 2:1.

And kindly stop putting negative words into my mouth. I didn't say Steam sales were full of junk.

The point you, wilfully, keep on ignoring, is that it doesn't matter if you have access to hundreds of games. You cannot play all of them. Maybe you like wallowing around in mud. I prefer playing a few of the best games, rather than dabbling in dozens of titles that don't really grab me.

As for the PC thing, I see you once again ignored my pertinent point as to incredibly bad ports from console to PC.

And, quite frankly, I'm pretty sure my PC will kick yours into the weeds (hehe - sorry for the epeen). So, if I prefer console gaming, take it from a sane, rational mind.

PS5.

My PS4 spends most of the year gathering dust while I play on PC, but it has a couple of exclusives that makes it worthwhile. UC4, Bloodborne, and GoW were those games for me, and TLOU 2 which is still to come. I also played DS3 and Resogun and a bunch of other more relaxing games on it.

Xbox still seems better on paper, although I've seen an opinion from a Crytek dev that is might not necessarily always be the case.

If I didn't care about exclusives, I would have been pretty much undecided until Digital Foundry could do a performance comparison between a handful of games, and at least one first party game to see what that SSD of the PS5 can give us.

We shall see towards the end of the year. I plan to buy both. Never owned an Xbox but having options is awesome, hence I have both a Mac and a Windows laptop.

Let's ignore exclusives, and focus on these two apparent differences:

Better graphics on the Xbox (apparently it is better specced for this), or faster load times on Playstation (apparently that's what the special SSD will mostly do).

What do you prefer?

I'm leaning towards the much faster load times.

Lol some people will choose on a console based on load times. Shows how different people's priorities are.

Yeah. I assume you'd prefer better graphics over quicker load times? :)

I mean, I do want the graphics to be decent. But I'm actually salivating at the prospect of almost no screen load times, or no load times between areas of a game! It is its own kind of immersion for me. Perhaps this is kinda silly of me :X3:

I'm pretty sure you can upgrade the PS4s HDD with a SSD. Won't be as fast as a PS5 though

For me, whatever Nintendo releases in their next gen. Didn't hop on the Switch train due to my perceived lack of value in the product (and high possibility of defective hardware) so it'll be PC (cross-play Xbox) and that new Nintendo console. I've been a pseudo-fanboy of PlayStation for most of my life but I've seen less and less value in their consoles as time goes on, and with all these exclusives slowly coming to PC (or eventually emulated) the PS4 is def. my last.

The SSD is not purely for faster load time. It also allows them to use it as virtual memory, which doesn't sound that impressive on it's own, but when you consider that it is DDR2 speed, you can see how it allows you to load the next room's textures when you're in the current room, no matter how fast you run through it. That's what I'm interest in.
Textures, sound effect, and whatever else RAM is used for.
