PS5

When looking at all the comparisons coming out, it seems that history repeated itself and PS5 is the clear winner(again). Maybe that fast ssd and architecture that so many dismissed is coming to the party now? Especially when you look at the difference in textures in performance mode?

I thought of only upgrading in a year or so but maybe will surprise my boy when stocks have settled.
So what budget 4k tv will be sufficient? Don't want to spend to much on tv for his room

I guess if you don't want to future proof the purchase and he isn't into competitive games any good 4K TV should do even if it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 and VRR.

Some things I've picked up after spending most of the weekend on PS5:
Controller charging: After about 2 days my controller had 1 bar left. Plug into PS5 to charge while it's still active (not sure if the rest mode thing has been fixed so not taking chances) and turned controller off. Controller keeps continuously charging even after it's been more than 3 hours. So it never seems to be fully charged. Wonder if it's just trickle charging.

If you play multiplayer games. Might want to make sure that your controller is muted as the mic is on by default.

When you are in a party chat and turn your headset off, the party chat audio plays through your controller. Haven't figured out a way to change this feature.

People who have ordered off Koodoo, does Koodoo send an email when an order has been dispatched?

I don’t want to start a new thread for this point specifically, and I’ve gone down the Google rabbit hole to no avail.

What is the cheapest 40” or so 4K tv with hdmi 2.1 and/or VRR? Is it only the QLEDs in massive sizes ?

I couldn't find any. Most TV's with the required features start at 55". The smallest I found was the 48" LG CX OLED, but that's nowhere to be found in SA either.

the cheapest i found is the samsung q70t 55", currently on special in multiple stores for 13k

Thanks! Also tried to find that LG to no avail. Problem is I have a small study so a 55” would drown me as it would be too close :/

So, was anybody able to get a PS5 on day of release from any store? I know in JHB West, at least 20 people where looking with me. Demand right now must be crazy.

I did initially mean people who did not preorder. Did you preorder or got one off the shelf?

Game also by me said the warehouse will be shipping directly to clients and will not hit any store at all. Makes sense for the people who preordered. Not sure how accurate that info is though.

you can get the LG OLED range at Masons in Benoni

Waited 15minutes and getting the one with free dual sense.

1st.in line was there at 4am.
Totally amazing. At least you in the line to get one. I didn't know they were doing that. Missed out I guess. Will wait till next month and hope they are some available.

I’m very interested to see the numbers.

From my perspective it seems PS5’s are hard to come by, well after launch versus Xbox Series S&X who had a short period of them not being in stock whereas as now you can grab one from most retailers.

Reading articles online doesn’t seem to help the short supply for Sony.
