PSA: Sickbeard is out, Sonarr is in.

There is tons of speed issues at the moment. my speed goes up and down all the time. Also there is an issue with Afrihost - they are sorting it out soon i hope.

Some threads cover this issue here on MyBB. It is a SAIX/Telkom issue, not ISP related.

Me too...my account with them will end this month. Lots of failed items as well.

It's the vague retention.

1700 days + thing when I actually think it's more like 600 for some and 1700 for popular.

Ok, so after months of doing things manually with SABNZB I installed Sonarr last night. Took about 10 minutes to set up (first time ever doing something like this, had a look at the sickbeard thread as well). I must say it is a real nice program to use. Add a series, you can choose to look for new episodes only or all missing ones, and it immediately grabs the nzb's. Added existing series from my series folder, and it picked up about 95% correctly (a few had different spelling, which you can immediately correct and then grab the correct series, like Mr Norrel instead of Mister Norrel).

The only issue I saw was that the first few NZB's it flagged as containing an archived file and then it just picked a different NZB. This does not happen often when I do things manually, so I was just surprised to see it. Nice that it kicks those NZB's out within the first minute of downloading (think SABNZB can also do this?).

The other cool thing with Sonarr is that it moves the completed downloads to your specified series folder (think you had to set up something in Sickbeard to do this?) and then Plex automatically picks up the new shows added. So now by just adding Sonarr the whole process is automated (like Sickbeard but it seems simpler than the SB setup guide for me).

Well things are looking good for Sonarr. Overnight there were some new series downloads.

2 issues I"m having:

1. Some of the covers for the series are not downloading.
2. After the downloads last night I see there are no nfo or tbn files. (I used to get these with SB)

Any ideas?

I also saw that some do not have covers, and Big Bang theory had a cover with a different language title. There should be somewhere you can set where it gets info from, haven't looked for it yet.

From their Wiki:
Once a file has passed all those checks it is imported, if there is an existing file it is deleted, otherwise the episode file is moved and renamed (according to your naming rules). Once the file has been moved it removes the source folder as long as it is less than 70MB in size). If no files are imported nothing is deleted.

I don't know if there is a way to change this.

Interesting. I've logged a issue on their forums. Tried a rescan for one of the series showing blank covers and am getting errors.

15-6-26 07:21:22.0|Debug|GlobalExceptionHandlers|Minor Fail: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for System.Drawing.GDIPlus

For 2. I think I might have found the problem. Under settings/metadata - I've now enabled Kodi.

I also wondered what. How can you be sorted till Jan? You can only buy 30, 90 or 365 day accounts.
I used the discount but see is still available so yes you can use it multiple times of you want. Anyway i had some previous bundles just added another 90 days for about r90

So far am loving Sonarr. Been doing some reading up and might just toss SAB too. Looks like nzbget is the way to go. More updates down to it and avg download speeds are faster.

Might as well do a complete revamp.
SB, SAB, Tweaknews --> Sonarr, nzbget, Usenetbucket

Doubt the client can have a measurable affect on the speed but it does look nice. Ol'Sab is just too stable for me to make the switch though.

My 1TB Astra block account is nearing it's death however...

I've seen a lot of comments about the speed differences between the two.

Just installed nzbget on RPI - wow. Lovely and clean interface and its a lot faster to navigate around. Will have some feedback later after it grabs the first download.

Please let me know, might be keen to do a bit of messing around with it if it's worth it.

Stuff that's already on the disk keeps appearing under the Activity Tab, requiring individual deletion.

Any advice on why this is happening and how to prevent it would be appreciated.

Try clearing your SABnzb download history.
