Hi!
So I got myself a decent camcorder, the Sony HDR CX110 a while ago.
I made a stupid mistake of buying a cheap tripod. Now I know why it was cheap. Panning sucks! Not smooth at all, as you can see on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N6Ogs52uzQ. I purchased the Tristar 1932 - Mistake of my life!

Anyway, I'm definitely buying something else. At the moment I'm looking at http://www.makro.co.za/p/4784/manfrotto-modo-maxi-tripod-785b/. The name Manfrotto sells it.

Does anyone have any experience with this tripod or can recommend something in +- The same price range?

Smoothness of the panning is PRIORITY. Really don't want to my future video look jerky.

Thanks!

I had one a year or so ago, used it for stills though. I will rather look at a tripod with a fluid head but it will cost a lot more.

That model is only 1.5m high, which seems a bit low to me. But I love Manfrotto's quality
