New way to take drone with you.
After a long time editing footage of my first flight of the mavic and messing around, this is what I came up with. I know it isnt the best, but hey it's something. I didn't focus the video on my first flight and you will see it.
Enjoy...

Anyone got a good easy to read link on drone regulations in SA? Most of the stuff I have found in last 10 mins is from 2014/5 and even the stuff from the last year refers to the them. I seem to remember there was some new stuff last year (not requiring license unless commercial etc)
Just want to brush up.
Saw some young guys at the beach yesterday flying what I would think is irresponsibly.. Middle of the beach vertically up so high the thing could barely be seen, then over the semi crowed beach and into the distance way out of line of sight. They went down wind to so I wonder if they could even bring it back.
If over my land I'd pull a William Meredith.if you were a member of the public how would you report illegal drone flying?
Anyone can fly as a hobby.
Not sure why http://www.safedrone.co.za/ has disappeared, was a really good info source.
I've sold my Inspire 1, from what I can remember though:
No fly zones are police stations, courts, prisons, military or other government buildings/ air space
No airports/ nature reserves
Don't fly over or around other people
Don't fly on private property
Don't fly over 120m
Fly line of sight
Hobbyists can't make commercial gains
Basically, don't be a dick and respect the relevant airspace/ no-fly zones
NEW REGULATIONS A WIN FOR HOBBY DRONE PILOTS
Drones were made legal for the first time in South Africa from 1 July 2015 and it is actually a big win for hobby drone users!
UNDER THE NEW REGULATIONS HOBBY DRONE PILOTS:
Do not need an RPL (Remote Pilots Licence).
Do not need to register their RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) aircraft.
Do not need an aviation medical.
Can fly RPAS up to 7kg weight.
Can fly at night (previous not allowed for any RC aircraft).
Can fly up to the height of the highest object in 300m of the drone (up to a max of 400 feet).
Can fly up to 500m away from the pilot, while maintaining direct line of sight (RVLOS).
Need to keep more than 50m from people.
Need to keep more than 50m from roads.
Need to keep more than 50m from buildings.
Need to keep more than 10km from airports.
May not fly in No Fly Zones.

So it would seem obvious that flying over a crowded beach is illegal?
Yet YouTube is full of that incl flying over building and roadways?

So basically fly your drone where ever you please??Rules in SA are to be taken with a pinch of salt. They are merely guidelines and not hard and fast rules
