Quadcopter/Drone Thread

don't do it man, saltwater and electronics don't mix,

got mine stuck in a tree once, took hours to get it down with a giant pole for cleaning pools.
now stuck with a busted motor:( when I tried to locate it in the branches of the tree.

luckily I have the citi golf of drones, so shouldn't be too hard to fix this
I wasn't thinking of crashing though waves with it... 50-100m ASL is more my thing ;) :)

Awesome! What's your setup? I'm getting into FPV myself

The setup / parts are in the youtube description I think ( I won't bore the guys here with that) - but yeah if you are keen to meet some people. We are having a rookie day at the Maths & Science Academy in Tokai on 16 March. Feel free to come along and meet some people. Shops I'd point you to for advice would be FlyingRobot / Goblin Hobbies and BoyzToyz.co.za (all in and around CT). If you are _really_ keen - just DM me your number and I'll get you added to one of the FPV whatsapps groups (for CT) - just a bunch of people asking questions and breaking stuff haha.

emphasis on "breaking stuff"
as if you dont buy something cheap to learn to fly, you'll break expensive stuff.
That's what insurance is for ;)

Besides - with the fore and aft sensors I'm only likely to fly into something sideways... or a bloody gull.

One good thing about the load shedding, if that's possible, is almost no wifi congestion :D

What's an affordable tablet to use with DJIGo 4 app ? My vodacom tablet is kak.

Next q.... So as a hobby flyer i can go 500m in distance (And have an eye on it) and should be 50 m away from houses, streets etc. So... if i take off in my yard, take it up to 50m, i can fly around ?

I currently use a Moto Z I have lying around - it's got a much larger screen than my iPhone and it works well, however I'm planning to get a new screen for my kid's iPad Mini 4 that we upgraded at Christmas. Apparently they work well.

That's the way I interpret it... but it's probably not the case.

I never realised how high 50m up was until recently. The Air is a speck in the sky at that altitude.

That's 40m straight up. See that fcker on the right ? Huge bees... they fly around the drone, sensors beeping all the time, and follow the drone to the ground. Some of them don't survive the blades.

Nice thing about the air is every day is take your drone to work day :)

Thinking of selling my Phantom 3 advanced. Kind of done what I wanted to with it.
Any idea what is a good price? I put it on Gumtree and have been flooded with interest which tells me it's too low.
-Purchased Nov 2016
-Good working condition
-Includes set of brand new props
-64GB MicroSD card
-Battery health is good. 70 charge cycles. Still flies for about the same duration as it was when new.
