I haven’t noticed much difference between the two frequency ranges. What made a massive difference was switching it from CE to FCC.
FCC is 5Ghz and CE is 2.4Ghz.

No, that's not how it works. For example, the Air operates in the 2.400 - 2.4835 GHz and 5.725 - 5.850 GHz ranges regardless. The difference is the transmission power.FCC is 5Ghz and CE is 2.4Ghz.![]()

In FCC mode it gives you ≤28dBm in 2.4 and ≤31dBm in 5.8 vs ≤19dBm and ≤14dBm respectively in CE mode.
Tl;Dr version - FCC mode offers nearly 2x the power - hence the longer range.![]()
To prevent swelling the battery automatically discharges to 65% after 10 days.Hmm... what tech are those then? Weird.
That's what the manual says...Interesting - had no idea that prevented swelling - is that a Li-ion thing?
No worries - good news is if you're currently on CE it will automatically switch to FCC when you get to the US. After you return you can keep hitting cancel when it wants to switch backI stand corrected. Thanks
Have you tested it? It would definitely make it more directional, thus it may hamper your connection if the drone is behind you, with the remote pointing away. Best way is to test it out.
I tested it a little this afternoon. I'm not sold on its efficacy yet.Got the same for my Mavic Air. Still need to test
You've got a Phantom - you should be wandering for KM not m. I sent my air a couple KM away the other day just to mess with someone's head.@genetic Was visiting my Uncle in Agatha a month ago. First time flying at 120m up and 500 m away. Took some photos of an Avo farm, then was asked to take pictures of a Blueberry farm. Still very impressed with that Phantom 4.
If you're using CE try switching it to FCC and see if the extra signal power helps.Has any one else with the Spark experience issues around valleys or by the bottom of large mountains where the unit acts erratically? had this happen to me 2 - 3 times in different areas around the country.

Yeah - NYC is pretty much a no-fly zone.Of yeah that's true. Only real concern about the US trip is lack of places to fly. I'll be in NY - which is basically a whole no fly zone there. And then in Vegas and San Francisco - not too sure on the restrictions there. I'll have to look it up closer to the time.
The Spark can go around 2km away from the controller - I am too worried about it to send it that far. The most I have gone is 500m.

This map will help with where you can/can't fly: https://www.dji.com/flysafe/geo-map - I actually had to unlock a geo-zone so I could fly near my in-laws here in PE the other day because it was within a particular area. You'll find the necessary info for that here: https://www.dji.com/flysafe

Working on some new livery for my Mavic. Have to reprint as I forgot the FAA registration number

Commercial print shop in town. R35 for a cut A4 sheet of adhesive vinyl. If I had a white drone I'd probably use clear vinyl but since mine is black I have to use white. That's a definite improvement.
How are you printing these?

The one I posted above is just a render to see how it fit together. I turned the shapes into cutlines and placed it over the image. That way I don't have to worry about bleeds.Good point about using a clear vinyl.
I'll take a look t some options - definitely want to add some colour to the drone before our Greece / US / UK trips this year.
And the designs, do you just overly them on top of the template?
