Quadcopter/Drone Thread

Yeah i get that. Just annoyed how strict it all is but anyway. I can see me spending my holiday driving around CPT with the maps open to see when i'm out of range of the banned areas lol.

Just stay out of the CTR's, ATZ,s FAR's, and the smaller airfields such as Morningstar and Stellenbosch etc and away from Sanparks and you'll be fine - obviously there is that 50m away from persons and buildings etc but apply your discretion here - no one is going to crack out a measuring tape, same for the 10km rule, and I'm sure transnet isn't going to send security out to stop you taking a photo where you're not technically in the harbor anymore

The KMZ file from ATNS is a great help :) for staying out of trouble

Maybe i should flip this around, as someone who's not from CPT, can you guys recommend spots where you know people do fly and get good scenic shots?

That is very difficult, where in Cape Town or around Cape Town will you be?
And when?

Some examples...

I have just viewed the Black Friday deals on the Droneworld site, if my memory serves me right I am sure the price on the Mavic Pro, 2 and 2 Zoom discounted prices are the same as what the non discounted prices where for the last 3 months. The only difference now is the price before discount has been largely inflated. Maybe I am wrong please post your views in regards the current pricing on the specials.

In line with local black Friday trends...

The only way to know if the prices are good is to check months in advance.

You are probably right although I have been monitoring the price of the Mavic Air 2 and price has moved. Wouldn’t touch Droneworkd with a 10 foot barge pole. But thats just me.

Why would you not look at MA2? Mavic 2 is at the end of its lifecycle and word is we will see new MA3 around March now delayed by COVID-19 and US election I’m told.

I have had the Mavic Pro and must be honest this MA2 ticks a lot more boxes must be honest. It is an impressive package and keeps getting better with upgrades.

I still love my Air but I think I'm going to get myself a Mini 2. The additional range and flight time are very attractive.

Farewell fish.

You haven't seen Durban beaches during public holidays.
Apart from a few notable exceptions aren't they open over the holiday season? Unlike the EC and parts of the WC...
