Quick guide on making your own network cable

Normal cables are easy to make, it's the cross-over ones where you have to try and remember which wire go where :D:D

Easy

normal is 12345678 - 12345678

crossover is 12345678 - 36145278

the most important ones is pins 1,2 and 3,6 which goes to 3,6 and 1,2 at the other side.

Gig connection needs no crossover.

I actually found my cable crimper, termination tool and a bag of boots in a drawer this weekend while cleaning up. I have no clue where my cable test is though. Dont think I have used them in about 5 years, But if I get rid of them I'm sure a cable will break at home.

While I agree its easy to make your own. At the cost of the tools its usually just cheaper for most people who don't have them laying around, to get them made up. BUT I have also seen some cable companies rip people off like crazy which is pretty pathetic

mmmm ..

if there's any people in CPT that would like to know how to make up a lead .. PM me and i'll show you at no cost...

There are standards and it's shocking to see what some people do

Why not post it for all to see?

I'm sure there is..please post so that we may be a bit more informed..

Done ... :D

Where can i post the pics with instructions?

Is it permitted for me to post pics in a thread with descriptions?

i would imagine this is only for Cat5e and not Cat6 or Cat6A ..
also .. this is with a standard RJ45 connector for a Flex cable and not a solid cable.

I would dissagree, it would be the same regardless.
