R 4.00 per Mbps per month

Cable does better at roughly $12 (R 92) but they are both completely eclipsed by fibre where costs can get as low as 50 cents (R 3.82) per megabit per month,” continues Johnson.

That makes me sooooooooooo angry with our service here in SA :(

We're like poor orphans visiting the shiny mall and only allowed to gaze in wonder at the marvels on display in the shop windows...
"how much is that fibre in the window....?"

Yet ironically, the message in this story is that, while we suffer now from regulation and government interference, in the futrue, perhaps because of it, there is the distinct possibility that we will have much better broadband infrastructure in SA than in many other developed nations that rely solely on a deregulated, free enterprise model.

Just not anytime soon...

Yet the brains. or lack there of, at Telkom still seem to think that copper is going to make a comeback

And we pay R440? for 4Mbps?.... R110/Mbps..... that sounds a little more expensive than R4/Mbps :(
