This is just getting ridiculous... To quote Dennis Leary, "My parents used to beat the living s*** out of me! Ok? And looking back on it, I'm glad they did! And I'm looking forward to beating the s*** out of my kids, aren't you?"

I got clouted as a kid, and I generally frikkin deserved it. This is saying that 'The education department' is now going to be responsible for teaching parents how to discipline their kids. Mmm, good idea, never mind that the next story is about a kid chasing another kid through school with a knife drawn...

I disagree with beating your kids to a pulp, but a firm hand now and then when the kid deserves it is not 'degrading' or 'humiliating' to a kid, imho. What do you folk think?

Yeh... I can see the government now...teaching them the way of crime and corruption... screw that... if I have kids the government can go to hell.

I say care enough for your children to raise them in such a manner that they will respect themselves and others. That they will grow up to know right from wrong and that there are consequences in this world. However you do this is up to you. But if you see that one method is failing switch and try others before it is too late.

Laws like these are born from idle government employees...

They HAVE to do something. Might as well be this...

Big F up if you ask me.

The choice should be left with the parent.

*sigh*

Liberal nanny state here we come :(

To quote yet another comedian (who I can't afford tickets to see this weekend *sob*)

I know, that it will take them 23 minutes to get here. And in that time... somebody gonna getta hurt real bad...

I'm going to start putting a grand away a month now, that way in 5 years time I'll be 200 clouts in credit...

So long as its only with an open hand, not too much force and with their own kids I have no problem with a good hiding. Putting a price tag on it is a bit useless though. How is it going to be enforced?

Russell Peters? Is he coming to SA?

Shall we write a letter to the NPA and ask them to set up debit order facilities?

I can see it now, "The NPA is a licensed financial services provider"

Nightwulfe, I realise you were quoting someone else, but you look forward to hitting your kids?

lol, not really, I'm just saying that I turned out fine after a few well deserved hidings, and if they were well deserved, my kids would get them too. I have seen timeouts in action, and all they accomplish is (imho) delaying the inevitable. My parents never beat me, and I disagree with bludgeoning your kid with a belt or whatever, but a small tap on the backside never degraded me.
