go into admin tools > computer management. plug the device in.
go to "devices" or something and disable that damn thing from starting up

I don't have the exact details but you will find a setting there somewhere.
not an accurate guide man.. and u always tell people to use mdma without pointing this out to them..

Maybe write you're own guide and put in you're signature? Otherwise you're just spamming people by giving them a Name but no tutorial on using it exclusively with you're data device.

@richardG. When and how were you able to download 3gigs. After I reached the 150MB cap (15-20 mins)I was only able to download at an average of around 6kb/s. I ended up downloading a total of around 800mbs with about three hours of no activity.

Please share your secrets/method.

1555 is a free call from an MTN sim but they only handle data queries, no billing, roaming etc. Only data.

Mtn R50 1 day bolt on data

Just want to find out if it happened to anyone else. I loaded the 1 day bolt on data and after I exceed the 150megs cap I can still download continuously without dropping down to the 128Kbps rate.
I get the sms stating that Ive reached the 150 cap and that I will be limited to 128Kbps.
In 16 hours I managed to download about 10gigs and its the 5th time it happened to me.

Does anyone know why is this happening?

That's just the way MTN works.

On my first use of the 24hr data bundle I managed to download / consume about 34GB(in one instance I downloaded a 1.4GB movie in 48minutes flat) in downloading torrents using my Toshiba TG01 phone as modem. Next weekend when I tried again to download the remaining seasons the speed was so slow I couldn't download a single episode. Guess it was beginners luck

holy cr*p!!!!, 34Gb - what speeds were you getting?

I use uTorrents which is configured to handle 25 simultaneous downloads and being a loyal P2P use I left all my completed downloads open so that I could seed other downloaders, so lets say on average by the time I reached my 24hr limit I had 25running torrents as well as more than 100uploads that I was seeding, and that doesnt count the other downloads I was doing that are not torrents....do the maths

Tested day 1, downloaded 3.4 gigs excluding failed downloads :p. . . . On hsdpa, downloading from straight download links and proper download manager which gives me average 140kbps after they throttle me down.

Bought this past weekend for 48 hours and downloaded 8.6 gigs + 300megs windows updates, excluding failed downloads, not to mention facebooking meanwhile and surfing inbetween. I rate it's cheaper for me this way than getting adsl as i don't use constant internet at home. . . lol

The last time(about 2 weeks back) I had activated my 24hr bundle, I got just over 5 gigs, inclusive of music, videos, windows updates, anti-virus updates etc. My average speeds being around 128kbps. The only problem when I load the bundle is that, I rarely get any sleep because I make sure I get my monies worth by surfing for at least 70-80% of the 24hr period, which goes right through the night!

Lol, I know the feeling, happens to me each time because some downloads tend to fail at 75% then you need to get a new session from the server you download from just to resume :wtf:. . . But oh well, if I can get what I want nice and cheap with lack of sleep then I suppose it's worth it. . . lol

I should have known I would get RUBBISH service from MTN. I loaded this R50 Uncapped bundle one hour ago and have not downloaded even 20MB! MTN seems to disconnect me from the internet 5 min after establishing a connection. Definitely the fastest way I've lost R50. Thanks for proving me wrong MTN, I thought iBurst was the worst ISP!

Some think it's the worst deal ever, some think it's the best.....

I have left Vodacom, for MTN, just because of this service.

You guys just need Hotfile and a proper download manager that can resume. :p

Keep it up MTN, your Uncapped R50 deal is AWESOME! :whistling:

Maybe MTN has a poor signal there?

I'm using a Nokia 6120C as a modem. Yes, it is a fairly old phone but it's capable of downloading @ 3.6Mb/s. @ Maddmatt: I've achieved decent speeds of ~ 1Mb/s at my current location. The signal bar is always full.
