Stupid question, but does it matter what "brand" ( so to speak ) of modem I use?

I have a Vodafone Huawei E220 I found in my backpack I used for work which used a vodacom sim card?
No, it doesn't matter. You might find it works better if you flash it with the MTN or the Huawei Mobile Partner dashboard though.

No, You don't know what you are talking about - you are so behind on the times it's not even funny!! lmao! :D :D

I will update you, lol...
You don't need to flash anything - just use a Simple, light weight, super fast connection manager like MDMA (A Cool program that I, Keeper, Discovered a year or so ago.) :)

MDMA is the beer's bubbles and it will knock the living daylights out of Mobile Partner, and crap all over Vodafone's Software.

but don't blame yourself for not knowing about MDMA, not everyone is as up to date. ;)

So know you know ginggs. Perhaps it's time for you to download MDMA......

I was just kidding - I just did it for the lulz...

I almost missed this part hehe..

But it is a wise decision to flash the firmware of Vodafone because its software is crapppp.. and it automatically installs itself + drivers on the host pc then takes control of the Port communicating with the Device. Only after you closed the Vodafone live software can you Run MDMA, and I find that my E220 Vodafail live firmware restarts itself quite often and when the thing restarts itself it launches the program all over again..

Makes me go mental :(

There are a couple of ways to prevent the dashboard installer stored on the modem from running, see here.

yes but does this still work when I put the device into a different USB port?

Very technical for most people this..

Anyway, what is the limit here ? I missed how much I can download before the shaping kicks in

I love using MDMA but I can't use mdma if the VLIVE CRAP APP starts up beforehand and takes control of the ports used for communicating with the device

go into admin tools > computer management. plug the device in.
go to "devices" or something and disable that damn thing from starting up

I don't have the exact details but you will find a setting there somewhere.
