Well the 24 hour "unlimited usage" is completely useless after the 150mb fair usage from after 7pm (activated at 09:10) I could only get another 200mb till 7am.What is worse is you are suppose to be throttled to 128KBytes according the 141 MTN menu clearly stating 128 KBYTES. I was however given lower network priority which meant the non stable connection speeds ranging from 5.33 to 13.9kb and it was not a constant rate the average speed was 7.45kb according to bandwidth manager.

Since my connection is G3 only egde works and connect at a far lower speed that the 128kbytes my average speed is around 200- 240 Kilobits (20-24kbytes) I was screwed completely as my connection is far below their limit.

Further more a few mins after the service expired I used my normal cap to check speeds and was right back to the normal speeds. As a note even before I reached the 150mb limit (around 90mb)I was already throttled.....

I am not happy about this it was completely useless after I reached the the limit and not even the full 150mb...

Thats strange well i i am using my phone as a modem and my phone capable of 7.2mbps maybe thats whats helping me i got capped when i reached 1.2 gig and my signal is not that good aswel have like 3 bars on my phone, ok wel started downloading from 1am till now and i am already on 3 gig and going strong

Assuming you hit 150megs in the first hour:

(128 (kb / s)) * 23 hours = 1.26342773 gigabytes. Not that great :(

ADSL = downloads. 3G = mobile internet browsing etc- light usage. See www.sainet.co.za for great 3G prices- R89 for 300MB :D

EDIT:

All this assumes they don't "forget" to activate this service somehow and screw you with R2/meg charges. Got no faith in these Mofo's.

listen bud, not to burst your bubble or anything but OFCOURSE it is 128 KiloBIT - if it was KiloBYTE that would mean it would be faster than ADSL 386 (as that is 386 KiloBIT, too)

they don't call it a throttle for nothing man.

PS: 3.6 Mb/s connection at FULL SPEED = 400KiloBYTES a second - did you really think you will get a Uncapped 128KiloBYTES/second throttle for only 50 bucks? seriously man?

learn the difference. R50 for 1 - 3 Gigs is AWESOME!

thanx onaz for the input, i'm gonna try it this weekend too!

your cap kicked in n ur speeds?

downloading 5 files at
36.0 kbps
40.1 kbps
17.0 kbps
30.0 kbps
19.0 kbps

For some reason sum times it adds up to more than 128kbps i don’t know what’s going on but well it works for me

oh by the way i am on 3.4 gigs now and still going strong

The problem as such is not the throttling is the freaking unstable connection it was never a constant rate it would continually drop to no connection activity for a few seconds before getting information before dropping to no connection activity even with full signal....

The connection was drop 12 times on their side.....which rarely happens on a data bundle.....

128KB * 8 = 1024kbs

Did you really think you will be getting an Uncapped 1mbs connection for 24 hours, for only 50 bucks?

seriously man we get 1.8mbs or 3.6mbs MAX speed with 3G, they are not going to throttle you down to 1mbs :D :D :D
